I JUST downloaded HEK yesterday, and I'm a noob. All I'm looking to do right now is edit the pistol for use in all SINGLE PALYER CAMPAIGN maps. How do I accomplish raising the damage to immensely high levels? I've attempted just editing the bullet.damage_effect tag, but when i save and load the game, the pistol hasnt changed any. What step(s) am I missing? Please be descriptive, as I may not understand anything you say. Remember that I just DLd yesterday.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition>tool.exe structure levels\a10 a10
Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'
building intermediate geometry...
file_open('data\levels\a10\models\a10.jms') error 0x00000003 'The system cannot
find the path specified. '

What can I do to fix this?

You need to have the scenario file before you can compile. The source files for the campaign are not included with HEK; you'll have to obtain them through downloading or through tag extraction with HEK+.

Okay, I have HEK+ already, which is the funny part. i just didn't know what it did. lol. However, when I run it, it becomes unresponsive once i try to click the
File Edit Help
sort of thing.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit.
Pentium 4 processor
2 GB RAM
Diamond ATI Radeon 5XXX series video card.

(Don't hate the processor, I'm on an e-Machine)

Anything i need to do to fix this problem, as well?

EDIT: I also have tried using Halo CE Tag Extractor (the one with the Devil as the icon) and had the same exact problem.

I've had this problem--- right-click the HEK+ exe and go to properties> compatability tab. Set it to run as windows 200, if you can. Also disable visual themes, OR run in low-color. THESE will disable the shadowy effect used on the menus. (If you're not running as admin, do that too.).
