Hello all!
So I'm making my first halo map, and I'm coming here for help because I have almost no Idea what I'm doing. I'll ask a lot of stupid questions throughout the process, So please be patient with me

I've created a model I plan to use as the map in a 3d program called blender that currently consists of 5K triangles. Is this number way too high? I can reduce it easily, but until I know I should, I'm keeping it as high-quality as possible.Apparently I'm not allowed to post images yet, so here's the link to a rendered image of the map:
http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/ae350/CesiumLifeJacket/halowaterfalljpg.jpgI don't think blender is compatible with the map editor, so I'm only using it to create the mesh. I want to be able to export this mesh into GMAX, the program this forum suggests for modeling, But I seem to be having some compatibility issues. First, I export the model in blender as a 3ds, and then I try and import it into GMAX. Gmax claims to support 3ds, (at least it has it as the default option for what type of file to import) but when I try to open the mesh I made in blender it tells me it's in the “improper file format”. Can someone help me figure out a way around this?
