Retreat? Hell! We just got here!

Alright, I've checked out the reference model downloads on this site, and, after comparing them to the actual .gbxmodel imported into the same scene, I've run into a conundrum: which one is correct? If I could get a screenshot up here, I would. Long story short, the .gbxmodel checks out at roughly 1.79m in gmax, confirmed by creating a plane of similar height beside chief, yet the supposed reference model chief doesn't even surpass the .gbxmodel's feet.

Which one am I to go by? In all honestly, I'd like to go off of the actual reference model, since my current map is HUGE, suspiciously and abnormally HUGE, and a resize appears to be in order. BUt the other .gbxmodel's and the .OBJ files extracted from maps (particularly the mesh of the map itself) all match the scale of the .gbxmodel chief, but that is to be expected since they all use the same scaling.

I'd rather not guess here, and get into sapien to find out that when I place a PELICAN, my map is so freaking large that the only viable way to get around is by spontaneous teleportation (yes, spontaneous. Map's so large, that any planned teleportation network would be insufficient haha). Many thanks.

I'd use those, but I don't have 3ds max, so I have no idea as to their sizes relative to the models I am currently working with. If they were converted to .3ds, then I could check them out.

Currently, I use reference models found on halomaps:
