I'm trying to correct the jackal's problem where ChangeColor changes it's flesh instead of it's armor... The multipurpose map is correct, though... I tried removing alpha from it, still has the problem... I reversed it, still has the problem.
Any clue why it's not coloring it properly, as it does with the grunt's armor?
NOTE: I am NOT talking about the shield. I fixed that by making it a meter with Tint mode 2... Edited by Alpha Series on May 9, 2010 at 07:12 PM

jackals have white scale armor... blending or colour changing (austrailian spelling of colour) does not modify black grey or white. in short to fix your problem, replace the armour bitmap with a colourfull version.

Grunt's armor is white, skin is blue-grey... His armor changes color.
It's using the multipurpose map... Red is reflectivity/specular mask... Blue is COLOR CHANGE mask. The color change setting decides what changes it, A is default.
According to all of these things, the jackal's armor should change, while the flesh should remain the same, just like the grunt. But for some reason that's not happening.
It's all part of the same bitmap (armor and flesh are in arms, torso, etc)

Nevermind. I think I've fixed it. Bungie left an alpha channel in. When I set it to use color-key transparency (1 bit, no 0) it worked... Now to add my hires reflections :) Thanks for trying to help though. I want it to change by rank. I have separate bipeds (with separate gbxmodels for coloring of the shield) for each rank. Bungie came with change color setup, but it was done improperly. Here's what I was trying to do: Note how their armor is colored, but their skin stays the same. Just edit the shield bitmap and create permutations for the shaders.

No, I made them a meter. When damaged, they change colors temporarily. Different ranks change colors differently, and when at lower healths they fade (usually to red)
You might think this would look awkward, and make sections invisible, but I assigned it no value. It only has a gradient source and a flash source. This makes it stay one solid object at all times, except when depleted.
They are to be included in a ton of maps =P
I can release a sample if you want. I tend to make my ai challenging on normal, so... It's insane. The zealots fire plasma pistols fast enough to overheat before they finish their barrage...
I actually want to go over the unique qualities of the shields...
Minor Shield is cyan/skyblue. It turns green as it gets damaged. I believe it turns white when shot. It's shield flashes for the longest time, excluding the stealth.
Major Shield is orange. It turns red as it gets damaged. I'm fairly certain it flashes white when shot (Haven't tested this thing in a long time). It's shield flashes for less than a quarter of a second.
Stealth Shield is a very low-intensity shade of violet. Hard to see. It shades over to a brighter red as it's damaged. When it's shot, it goes invisible for about 3/4ths of a second, before the edges fade from white to purple and the entire shield reappears.
Dignant A fairly unique name... They appear to be more like the majors from halo 3, however they are stronger. They have purple shields. Their shields flash white when shot, for the shortest amount of time. The shield turns red as it gets damaged.
Zealot These come in a shielded and unshielded variant. Unshielded uses snipers and anti-air weaponry. Their shield is golden. I may add markers and a constant effect to even make it shimmer :). It fades to white as it gets damaged. When shot, it inverts. Edited by Alpha Series on May 23, 2010 at 06:27 PM
