Having a problem with an attempted mod of some/any original campaign levels, at the moment I cant even get started, as of course the SP files have a few differences to multilayer .scenarios.
Ive recursively extracted all the campaign maps from the Halo PC directory into their proper CE tag folders, however when I try to open any of the maps in Sapien it loads and closes before fully loaded, giving the following debug.
03.28.10 21:24:15 sapien pc 01.00.00.0609 ---------------------------------------------- 03.28.10 21:24:15 reference function: _write_to_error_file 03.28.10 21:24:15 reference address: 401b13 03.28.10 21:24:15 Couldn't read map file './sapienbeta.map' 03.28.10 21:24:16 CreateDevice succeeded with refresh rate = 0 03.28.10 21:24:16 Increasing sound decompression buffer size to 1048576 bytes 03.28.10 21:24:17 EAX: 0xFFFFFFFE 03.28.10 21:24:17 EBX: 0x00000002 03.28.10 21:24:17 ECX: 0x00A4E2F8 03.28.10 21:24:17 EDX: 0x00000005 03.28.10 21:24:17 EDI: 0x09C94000 03.28.10 21:24:17 ESI: 0x00000000 03.28.10 21:24:17 EBP: 0x00A4E30C 03.28.10 21:24:17 ESP: 0x0013F004 03.28.10 21:24:17 EIP: 0x005AB968, 66 8B 04 3E ????? 03.28.10 21:24:17 6F697461 ????? 03.28.10 21:24:17 00000008 ????? 03.28.10 21:24:17 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Ive found a few other people with similar problems, but haven't found a solution, or any tutorials on how to get a campaign mod set up. Ive also tried using downloaded versions of the SP maps in case there was a conflict with PC/CE map file types, as they are slightly different, I believe. I also noticed some SP tags by TheGhost, and tried using them, but that didnt solve it. Re-installed HEK for clean tags, at the moment my tags directory only contains the original HEK tags and the ones extracted from the SP maps, with no files being overwritten.
I'm also unsure of whether the ACCESS_VIOLATION refers to the files being accessed by another program (which shouldn't be a problem as Ive tried with only Sapien running), or an issue with access permissions placed on the original SP maps.
The maps also give a similar error when recompiled in tool, with the build-cache-file command used for MP maps, I tried just to see if it would work, as then i could make some changes in Gurilla, which can open the .scenario's.
Any help would be appreciated, Ive got some decent experience in MP maps, but I'm new to SP, and I haven't found any tutorials on modding the campaign.

I've only had this error once, but I think i've seen other people say to extract the entire SP map recursively. Try that.

Yeah everything has been extracted recursively. Does HEK+ rip tags from PC that can then be used in CE? There doesn't seem to be any problems with missing tags, but i noticed when I extracted the PC beavercreek way back, it could open in sapien and compile in tool, but I had to fix a missing sky, fix up some sounds and put all the scenery back in,
I had a far-fetched idea that installing a UI with the singleplayer enabled might help, but I cant see that working, or see any connection to my problem, but im out of ideas. Is there a download of working tags for the SP maps anywhere? or ill assume other people dont get this issue when ripping from PC.

That seems to have done it, thanks Nametaker, and Corvette, and TheGhost, strange that the maps didn't work straight from the PC.map rips, but it all seems good now. Just have to get all my old tags working alongside these new ones.

I think there's a connection problem or when I try to open a single player cmt in Sapien.
