So normally, the recticle is correct, but when you get into the vehicle, you actually shoot below the recticle.
Why? And how can you fix it? the vehicle is the ATV in yoyo's island (1)
Is there any way to fix this? try playing yoyo's island and getting into one of the ATVs in that map to see what i'm talking about.

you can fix it, but its not the reticle, its the camera_tracks the seat uses when you get into it. try meddling with the camera_tracks and its position, maybe you will get something.

The projectile origin is more noticeable in 3P, so it doesn't come from the camera. ^pretty much what he said.
But still, it isn't entirely the camera_tracks. A very small part of it is because of the weapon origin, it's because they don't "match". I dunno if this is possible, but I guess the place where the projectile hits should be near the reticule instead of straight forward.
I don't want some useless explanation anymore.

okay, here's some more information: if i stand by my vehicle and shoot at a place , and then i get into my vehicle and shoot without moving the rectilce, it fires into the same place. but, when i'm in the vehicle, the recticle points higher.
so it dosn't actually shoot a constant distance below the recticle relative to me. Wherever the recticle point, minus a couple inches down, is where i shoot. So the shots are much closer to the recticle when i shoot at far away things (seemingly, because the angle of differnce in far away objects is smaller)
Does that help at all?

Still dunno how to fix it. Can you help fix it for me? http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=30386Oh, can i remember you asking me about the vehicle/player damage thing. I want it so that if you hit the player, it does 1.5x damage normal, taken off the player's health/sheilds. If it hits the vehicle, it does .75x damage, taken off the player's health/sheilds. ATVs are invincible. How do i do that?

ATVs are invincible. How do i do that? Oh. I don't know if you already have that, but if you want them to to 1.5x damage, modify the player's shields to 2/3. As for the ATV, I guess you'll have to modify the damage_effect tags. And for the reticule, I guess the best you can do is either modify the camera to first person, or align it somewhere near the right shoulder so that the projectile offset would be smaller, and the shot would be more parallel to the camera. And besides, it seems cooler to me if it's an over-the-shoulder view. Just don't make the camera insanely close to the player as if you were zooming in. Edited by PX173 on Jan 19, 2010 at 05:08 AM

No, I want it so that player-player damage is the same.... but player to playeronvehicle to be more damaging. (this is for balancing reasons)
is there any other way to do the recticle thing? Because the worthog turrent points to the recticle, even though its not in first person perspective.
