After hours of trying to recompile sidewinder's pine tree for climbing, I found that the climbing properties lie in the collision geometry not the gbxmodel. After finding this I modeled a cone that roughly fit the shape of the tree's core. Then I applied a material adding ^ at the end. I exported to JMS, compiled as collision geometry in tool, and replaced it as the trees new collision model. Now master chief can scale up the trees in sidewinder.

I'm not trying to burst your cone but this is old info. It's nice to see people being able to accomplish stuff on their own and I think you should release it to the site since there isn't anything like that.

i once made a giant toilet scenery that MC could climb to the tank from the bowl. i just added a ladder with ^ and it worked fine without any extra geometry. although i was messing around with it a couple months ago and now the collision doesn't match up with the model anymore :C

Yep its become an official part of my custom sidewinder we play on our LAN parties. Coupled with a sniper rifle and active camo these trees are deadly.

Sounds awesome.
Heres something. I wonder if it could be used for, say, scaling cliffs? Then again, you could just set up some ropes and turn them into ladders collision-wise.
Reminds me of an old halo webcomic, where chief got stuck at the bottom of a chasm and they had to get a ladder because that was all they covered in basic.
