I know what you're saying. Just export your map, it should run fine.

@ gamma: bsp looks like melted neopolitan ice cream in sapien, i can't remember exactly what causes this.

@Corrupted: yes, been dealing with it for over a year i'm just sick of seeing it that way. for the most part it's just an annoyance but i'd like to see textures/shaders before i test ingame.

E: oh and yes, it has no effect on the result of the finished product..for anyone else who stumbles onto this problem.

Oh. Recursively re-extract the bitmaps from a classic map, or reinstall HEK.

My guess is that your stock bitmaps are corrupt, but since tool is grabbing them from bitmaps.map in-game they show up fine.

Is it just the bitmaps.map, all the stock .bitmaps, or both?

Say you were making a map and used stock tags, such as the danger canyon cliff walls. Since you are using the same exact bitmap reference in the map as the one in bitmaps.map tool will use bitmaps.map for the bitmap instead of putting the bitmap in the map file. This makes the map file smaller by not needing every map to include the bitmaps in the map file. When your using sapien however it's using the bitmaps you have in your tags folder and not the bitmaps out of bitmaps.map. So in sapien you see your corrupt bitmaps but in-game the bitmaps in bitmaps.map are not corrupt and show up normal.

To fix it I would re-install HEK.

i'm not using any stock bitmaps. not so much as a detail map. by that account i would have had to make corrupt custom bitmaps. unless you count bitmaps in sky, weapons. even the scenery is custom.

i just want to be clear on this before reinstalling HEK. i've installed it twice before and i've never noticed a change from the very first time i opened sapien to today.

No. It isn't. It's caused because of corrupted bitmaps.

Overwrite will suffice. Or, recursively re-extract the original CE maps.

lol escapepostmuch lol

i think so...i'll try my best to describe it although i'm sure there is a pic somewhere on this site but its probably 30 pages back. i saw it several months ago but halomaps+search = 3 pages of unrelated topics.

basically in the sapien game window all the textures, minus transparent ones, are swirled together, stretched, and pretty much tye-dye or psychedelic. it's almost always very darker than it should be and often there are checkered orange lines through it that i've seen in the lightmap bitmaps before. there's no cohesion and it's apparently random although it stays the same as long as you don't make a new lightmap.
