hi, im new, but i have a decent understanding of how programs and computers work and the such, but i can get some ai that i have put in a map to work when the map is a multiplayer map. i know this can be done, i have downloaded multiple multiplayer maps that have exactly the sort of thing im trying to get, however, the ai that i have added, doesnt show when the map is a multiplayer map. as far as i can tell, for all intensive purposes, it should be working. can anyone tell me how to make the ai work, and is it a different method of adding it. im currently using sapien and adding it through encounters.

EDIT: reading around, it could be that its not in my globals, i will try this and see if that fixes it, if anyone has any other help to add, it would be greatly appreciated, and credit would be given if your help led to the fixing of the problem and completion

ai DOES show up in multiplayer, its just the way you configure the encounters.
meddling with your globals to add ai is like trying to fix a car with a solution meant for a broken water pipe.

here's an ai tutorial to help you:

Download one of my unprotected maps, such as desert_floodwar, and decompile with HEKPlus to see how the ai are set up in it using Sapien. Keep in mind that the script files will not decompile with the map...maybe this will help. While in Sapien, if you don't click on compile map, the scripts will stay intact when you save, and build your cache file in Toolplus.

It will always says:
Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'

you have to wait unit it finishes compiling

(deleted stuff)

you decompile using HEK+ (ie. you open the .map file in HEK+, select everything that the map has and drag and drop 'em in the tag extraction queue, and start ripping)

oh, and the "Couldn't read map file ./toolbeta.map" thing is normal, and compiling a map with tool sometimes takes quite a long time (depending on your comp's processing speed and how much is in the map), so you may have to wait.

i know the coulcnt read map file ./toolbeta. map thing is normal, but the rest is all it says, and then comes up with the message that says its finished

and what part of HEK+ there are multiple things in it, saying to open it in HEK+ is like saying how long is a peice of string

since tool says it's finished, then that means the map has already compiled, and you can open it with Halo.

for the HEK+ thing though.......
1. double click the .exe of HEK+ (run as admin and disable desktop composition if you are running vista)

2. you should see the "open map" button, click on it and then navigate to the .map file you want to rip, select it.

3. once HEK+ loads the map, you should see a folder list in the Explorer window. Select all of the folders in the window and drag and drop them to the Tag Extraction Queue window.

4. deselect the checkbox that says "Save extracted tag list", then click the gear-like icon in the Tag Extraction Queue window (which is the tag extractor settings).

5. Ensure the Default tags folder is set to the correct location, and Overwrite existing tags is unchecked (especially important, since not doing so can cause errors).

6. Click Apply, OK, and click start.

hope this helps.
