Do people like SP maps better than MP because I asked my friend to ask his friends if they liked SP maps better than MP and most of them said yes what do you think?

I like SP better, mostly becuase I can't aim in MP's netcode. SPs can be really fun if done right, but they will take a lot longer to make. (Ive actually almost been working on one since I got here so I think I should know)
Which ever you choose to do, just make sure the map is fun and entertaining.

How about a map incorporating a style of BSP from every halo game. halo 1, 2, 3, ODST sections. and all would have only the types of weapon in the sections as the style section it is. Ex ODST section has silenced SMG and ODST pistol. H3 section has AR and maybe a H3 styled flamethrower or something, etc... You get my meaning.

I like AI maps the best. Espicially the ones that don't pit you alone against all zealots and major elites. :D

MP maps are fun due to their re-playability and the fact you play with real people. Single player's fun sometimes though, but Online Co-op beats single player any day for me.

I prefer MP maps, although SP maps are only fun for me if they are custom made, and only if they are well made with custom stuff, that is why I like CMT

I prefer multi-player maps for hce because then your not by yourself, single player for games with a full campaign because i like the story lines and the fact that there is good voice actors and cinematics usually.

Though the maps I make are more SinglePlayer-oriented, I have nothing against MultiPlayer maps. Both can be good if they are well balanced and populated, while both can be bad if the reverse is true.
What do I look for in a MP map? Good team balance is the first thing. The simplest kind of team balance is in a symmetric map, with both teams having the same tactical advantages and weapon placements as the other.
However, the best of the MP mappers are those who have mastered asymmetric balance. Each team's base is different and provides them with equal advantages while at the same time vastly varied in structure. Also, flags must be widely spread for KoTH/Race gametypes. Powerful weapons should be sparsely placed.
What do I look for in a SP map? Instead of team balance, I now look at AI balance and realism. What is realism? Well, you might see maps with the player fighting against 5 Zealots at the same time. Its perfectly unbalanced and unrealistic. First off, unless plenty of cover is available or your AI is modded, the Zealot's rapid fire will quickly wear down the player and kill him. Next, what would 5 high-ranking Elites be doing in the same place anyway? Also, I look for level flow. This is a bit hard to explain, but its more of capturing the feel of the original Halo levels, and not having random and awkardly placed enemy encounters or cutscenes.
