Directory of scenario tag: tags\levels\test\tutorial

Scenario name: hudmsgtut

Directory of hud messages.hmt: data\levels\test\tutorial

for the tool command is the directory the scenario directory or the hud messages.hmt directory

i noticed that you put this earlier somtime this week

I'm saying you SHOULDN'T, because I was under the impression that zombie-escape was your scenario name. If that's not it, then put your SCENARIO name for the tool command.

if the scenario name is zombie-escape what do i do?

HUD messages.hmt doesn't go in a folder with the scenario's name. You put it in haloce\data\levels\test\noremorse

Then, the tool command should be correct.

You've put in way too many tags for a MP map.

Are you running sapien/guerrila or halo in the background?
if so, exit those programs and try compiling again.

for the hud messages thing i put it in the data\levels\test\noremorse the zombie-escape folder dosnt exist at all so the command i would use is:

tool hud-messages levels\test\noremorse zombie-escape

zombie-escape is the scenario name

Step 1: Copy the location of your scenario tag.

Example: tags\levels\test\noremorse\zombie-escape.scenario

Step 2: Go to the data folder.

Example: data\levels\test\noremorse

Step 3: Create hud messages.hmt, using unicode encoding

Example: data\levels\test\noremorse\hud messages.hmt

Step 4: In tool, type tool hud-messages [DIRECTORY - SCENARIO] [SCENARIO]

Example: tool hud-messages levels\test\noremorse zombie-escape

one last problem whats teh script

the one i used is

what i got from sapien is:

This means you started a bracket but didin't end it later.
Add a ) to the end:

Technically, you're missing a parentheses, like the guy above me said, but the begin could cause problems. For a better fix, remove the begin. So use:

(script startup bloodscript2.5

(sleep 150)

idk it works now. im using tool++ because its alot easier. but now unless if i extract other weapon tags with hek+,it will say tags cannot be read please contact your nearest bungie thing for isistance. So f i download them i cant load them.

Make sure you're putting them in the correct locations, or that you aren't missing any tags. Check the debug.txt file located in the Halo root directory for a full list of tags that can't be read.

You need to add them as netgame equipment rather than .weapon tags for multiplayer maps, as the .weapon tags will disappear due to respawn. You know how in multiplayer games, if you kill someone, their weapons disappear? That's what's happening here.

um i changed my weapons to item collection and added them to my map and they arnt loading. I found a new tool on halo maps its called tool++ it duz the same things as tool but makes it alot easier oh i like your old quote ill take it whatever happens its not myfault

All tool++ does is compile scenarios. From my experience with it, it can't compile bitmaps, animations, hud messages, run lightmaps, and a lot of stuff. Tool++ should be sufficient for modding and recompiling maps though.

For the item collections, make sure the item collection is set up properly. Make sure you have a weapon specified, a weight, and a respawn time. As for adding it into a scenario, in Sapien, the Hierarchy View, go to Mission > Game Data > Netgame Equipment. Right click to place it down like a weapon, and in the properties pane, browse to your item collection which you should have saved.

Permutations. You can have an item collection spawn different weapons, like half of the time, it spawns an assault rifle, and the other half, it spawns a plasma rifle. The weight is essentially how much of the time it would spawn which. If you had assault rifle at 100, and plasma rifle at 0, it'd spawn the assault rifle 100% of the time. If you had 50 for both, it'd be an equal chance. If you only have one weapon in the item collection though, just set it to 100.

They'll spawn wherever you put the netgame equipment flag. You don't put .weapon flags in Sapien, UNLESS you're making a single player map. For multiplayer, you put down netgame equipment flags. I'm talking about spawning different weapons IN the same place. For example, if I modified the item collection that spawns the sniper rifle to spawn a sniper rifle 50% of the time, and a rocket launcher the other 50% of the time, and I recompiled bloodgulch, bloodgulch would be overrun by rocket noobs grabbing the rocket launcher off of the top of the base when it spawns. Sometimes it'll spawn rocket launchers, and sometimes it'll spawn sniper rifles.
