the title says it all. I downloaded a few tags and i want to put them into a map like RPG Beta 6. What is the tool(s) that i need? (tool, sapien, guerilla, etc...)

rip the map that u want to put tags in using HEK+,
rip the maps that you want to get the tags from using HEK+ too
use guerrila/ sapien to add the tags into the map
compile your map using tool via the cmd
done

how do i rip it in HEK+? i clicked open then opened the map, now what?

Note, if you are running vista, select "run as admin" first.

do you see the folders in the map file after opening the map file?
select all, then drag them to the tag extraction queue window (enable the window by clicking view -> add in windows -> tag extraction queue)
click on "tag extractor settings"(the button that looks like a gear in the tag extraction window), and define your tags folder (by default C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\tags or wherever you installed the HEK in)
deselect "overwrite existing tags", then click apply.
in the tag extraction queue window, click "start" to start ripping the map.

do you even have HEK installed? (note : i am not referring to HEK+)
tool comes along with it when you install HEK.

Which tool? Tool.exe? That's installed with HEK. You have to run it through cmd.exe. You can't just double click it.

oh okay, and yes i have the regular HEK installed. this happends when i try to export the tags



and no Halo isnt running.

1.How do I add the tags using sapien and guerrila?
2.how do i run tool through cmd?

Why are you extracting to the desktop? Select the yellow gear. Click the "Use Registry" button. And Sapien and Guerilla count as other processes as well.

okay, and i didnt have them open either. nothing was open when i was trying to extract them.
Okay so now what? i got them to be extracted but its not a vechile from another map i want to put in there its a downloaded vechile

. I put the vechile in the vechile section under the tags and opened it in guerilla, now what?
(i opened arwing.vehicles in guerilla)

okay im trying to add it to bloodgulch, i ripped the map, but i cant open it in sapien cuz there is now scenerio file. what do i do?

Once you rip bloodgulch, the scenario should appear inside tags\levels\test\bloodgulch. Oh, and if it's a downloaded vehicle, you have to replace another vehicle in your globals.globals, or write a script. To replace it, open up tags\globals\globals.globals, and scroll down to the vehicle section. There's a dropdown list with a bunch of vehicles. Select one, and underneath, click the three dots. Browse to your new vehicle. NOTE: You CANNOT add another vehicle in. You can only replace existing vehicles.

okay,
First I editing the banshee in the globals.global to be an arwing

and now i try editing a map in sapien and then it crashes when i try to load a map. here is the error message

okay thanks.
one last thing. now im trying to move weapons from one map to the other. Now do i use sapien or guerilla to do that?

Yea. Open sapien, and open the scenario. In the hierarchy view, select Mission > Game Data > Netgame Equipment. Right click in game view to put down a marker, and in the properties pane, specify which .item_collection to use.

Save it in Sapien, and compile it in tool.

just hit save? do i have to name it a new name? and also (sorry for all these questions) where is the map file saved after i compile it?

just hit save if you want to save the map as its original name.
if you want to change its name AND save it as another scenario file, hit Save As, and then type in the name you want to give the map.

oh, and the map file is usually saved in the levels\test\(yourmapname) folder.
for example, you'd find the bloodgulch .scenario file (if you ripped it) in tags\levels\test\bloodgulch

NO. Do NOT overwrite the original. You MUST save it as a new one. If you overwrite the original, you will no longer be able to play online, unless others have the same scenario as you. ALWAYS save it as a new map.
