I've looked at some tutorials on adding ai using sapien and need a little help.I choose new instance after doing what people say to do on ais and for some reason they don't spawn but it doesn't say there's an error like it did when I tried to spawn odst's.this has happened with jackal plasma rifles and cmt brutes (so far those are the only three actor varients I have)

also how do you change the weapon of an ai like say I want an odst to wield jackal's fixed ma5c,how would I do that (my guess is it's not done in sapien but I dunno where it's done at if it isn't)

I copy the odst actor varient and paste it into the same folder,then,i open it in guerilla and change the copys weapon,then rename it to whatever you want.

Go to the encounter properties window and check respawn enabled,and for the to spawn,go to squad properties and go to to normal/insane diff count etc....Change normal to 1 and insane to 1,and min and max respawn to however many Spawn points for the ai you have.So if i had 5 ai spawns,i would put min and max respawn at 5.Total respawn is 0.

Were the tags added without error? When you added them, did it ask you to contact a Bungie Programmer?

You DO know what that will do, don't you? 0 AI will respawn, meaning no AI, which is useless for MP AI mods, unless you happen to be doing SP. Or you have a custom pause menu to spawn them.

yeah it said to contact a bungie programmer does that mean my tags were corrupt or somethin?

It means that you were either

a) missing tags
b) you put them in the wrong place
c) corrupted

Check your debug.txt, and it'll say what tags in particular are missing.

They do. All you need to do is to get all the tags that they couldn't open. Look above to see the tags. You'll have to get all those tags, as they're corrupted. An easy task [/sarcasm]

Basically, you put the assault rifle in the wrong folder. For example, find the .weapon tag. Move it to the folder tags\weapons\ma5c-assault-rifle. Move all the other folders and tags to that directory as well.

it WAS in the right folder then.when I downloaded it that's where it was/is the only thing I can think of is I wasn't supposed to put the folder jackal's ma5c assault rifle tags in the weapons section of tags but as for the brutes,jackals,and odsts I put them all where theyre supposed to be as far as I know,and it said the same error thing with each cmt smg,icee's silenced pistol and the h2 battle rifle I got from the weapon section of halomaps

so basically I haven't put any weapon,vehicle (I've tried aa wraith and needler ghost), actor varient,or biped on a map using sapien because it says error every time.

No. If it was in the right place, it would work. Let's walk you through this. Once you download it, open the .zip. You get this folder called jackles MA5C assault rifle tags fixed. Open that up. There's a weapons folder. Open that up. You'll find a MA5C assault rifle folder. Put that folder inside your tags\weapons folder.

Oh, and for CMT's brutes, put the entire CMT folder inside the tags folder.

how did you fix your problem?I've done everything everyone said and none of it worked.I wish someone would make a step by step vid that goes from downloading a tag that I don't have to organizing it,and then putting it in sapien.THAT would help sooooo much.

cmt folder on main page

smg's in the same folder as brutes (cmt folder)

and by the way I made sure my tags were in the right place (which took a while they were a little messed up but alas they still didn't work)

Exact directory. For example, smg_cmt.weapon should be in the folder tags\cmt\weapons\human\smg.

ma5c assault rifle or ma5c-assault-rifle? Oh, and CMT's SMG was missing tags, which would explain why you can't open it. You'll either have to make the tags, or use a substitute. The brutes I had no trouble with.

the tags it missing you can try replacing with assault rifle tags or just finding a different weapon to use....

Also there are no tutorials on how to download a tag and put it in sapien... that why their are readme txt files in all the files you download from halo maps...

(do you read them???)

This is because all tags are different and even if the person uploaded the tag and it worked on his or her computer doesn't mean it will work on all computers it also doesn't mean it will work correctly as every computer may have a different tag set... for instance in order to use the wraith turret.vehicle from halomaps you must first have ripped Wraith tags from an sp map.... without them the turret wouldn't work.

open your ma5c weapon tag in guerilla, and fix EVERYTHING that guerilla highlights in red (ie. you replace those with the appropriate tags)

after fixing, open every single object that you have fixed that was once highlighted in red, and check for more items highlighted in red (fix them too)

find your errored odst tag that is specified in the debug.txt file, and fix everything there that is highlighted in red.

Sometimes the .weapon itself has no red text. There's only red text if a necessary file can't be found. Even if that file is missing tags, or is corrupted, it'll still display that tag as ok. In the debug, it'll say "Failed to load [TAG]". Open that tag up, and look for red text.

Open up the SMG. Scroll down to weapon HUD interface. There should be some red text. Click the three dots next to it, and browse to weapons\assault rifle\assault rifle.weapon_hud_interface.

For fixing the MA5C assault rifle,i made a new folder in my weapons folder,so then i had MA5C Assault Rifle and ma5c-assault-rifle,then i copied and pasted all the folders and files in MA5C assault rifle to ma5c-assault-rifle. (I think you still have to fix some red text though...)

umm... lolz sapien wouldn't load if it was corrupted.... anyway your tags still a bit messed up like gamma said just because red letters is gone doesn't mean all your tags are perfect.

You should be more specific on what still doesn't work. . .
