Shall we play a game?

i have seen how people pwn with the rocket launcher, even with its so-called "tradeoffs" (like slow ROF, slow reload etc.)

most veterans of halo would probably have used the RPG 7 in various maps (http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=3870)

IMO, the RPG seems to add some balancing to gameplay if it replaces the rocket launcher in a map, as it can only fire one shot before having to reload, and shares certain tradeoffs with the rocket launcher. This makes people think twice before trying to "spam shot" like they could with the rocket launcher's 2 round clip.

what would you put in your map: the RPG 7 or the rocket launcher?
feel free to express yr opinions on this issue.

btw, you can also say stuff abt the RPG 7's tactical advantages/disadvantages in certain types of maps (big, small etc.)

Why does everyone say duel? It's dual wielding, not duel wielding. That bugs the crap out of me.

dual

–adjective 1. of, pertaining to, or noting two.

2. composed or consisting of two people, items, parts, etc., together; twofold; double: dual ownership; dual controls on a plane.

3. having a twofold, or double, character or nature.

4. Grammar. being or pertaining to a member of the category of number, as in Old English, Old Russian, or Arabic, that denotes two of the things in question.

duel

–noun 1. a prearranged combat between two persons, fought with deadly weapons according to an accepted code of procedure, esp. to settle a private quarrel.

2. any contest between two persons or parties.

–verb (used with object), verb (used without object)
3. to fight in a duel.

The thing that concerns me more about balance, is the style. I don't want a modern weapon sitting around in a map that's full of Halo-styled weapons. Similarly, I don't want the rocket launcher in a modern styled map.

i think this problem can be worked around with an imaginary storyline explaining why an RPG 7 is in the map..

Many years ago, there was a small rebellion which was put down by the UNSC. This place was the stronghold of the rebels, later captured by the UNSC and turned into a training ground for ODSTs and Marines. The weapons that were abandoned by the rebels were not confiscated, as the UNSC wanted its trainees to familiarise themselves with "potential Rebel weaponry".

The RPG 7 was a weapon that withstood the test of time. Its relative low cost, effectiveness against infantry and high availibility made it popular among rebel forces, even as better rocket launchers were developed and marketed. It was still used against the UNSC Marines to deadly effect when the UNSC decided to take over the stronghold.

This is just one of those stories that you can use, and no doubt it is not the only one.

Stories aren't hard to make. I made one explaining how the flood sentinel came to be in the Flood Campaign topic. The point is, it looks out of place. Think about it. A wooden stick, with an attached explosive device, in a map with all sorts of high tech weapons.

You all do realise that the RPG is nothing but a Rocket Propelled Grenade right? It'll eventually run out of propulsion which gives it a shorter range. But when it fires , it's sopposed to be as fast as well.. a rocket propelled grenade. So , the RPG is more suitably replaced with the Handheld grenade launcher. OR a rifle mounted launcher. Both of which are slightly slower then the rpg , but have more ammunition due to the fact that they are much smaller then a RPG projectile.
Ps. The Rpg Grenades dont prime in real life if it's fired to close to it's target , it'd just bounce off and blow up the moron who was shooting.
