all right, here's the lowdown:
i used HMVC (halo map version converter) to try and mod a map to be more 'equal' for both teams, and to improve some weapons. problem is, when i went to go set up my map directory, i think i mispelled it, and now it wont work at all.
It keeps saying runtime error 380, or 308, invalid property value. i tried getting a new copy of HMVC, from 2 differetn places, and i restarted my pc. nothing is working. plz help.
in case you're wondering, the map i want to mod is extinction, and before i mod it, i will get permission from Tiamat, but i want to make it better for red team, which sucks. they have all the low end weaponry and bad spawn points, which reminds me. i never got sparkedit to open a CE map, even after successfully converting it. any advice would be aweosme.

Use HEK if you really have the urge the "fix" a horribly unfix-able map.

1. extinction is unfixable 2. why do you want to convert it when hek is 100 times easier to use? 3. why do you want permission from tiamat? it wasn't him who made the map it was ender 4. i like toast 5. make a completely new bsp, i don't care if its bigger than extinction as long as its nice

Extinction is hard to work with, but can be fixed somewhat. 2. Cause he likes the errors, they keep him company. 3. Cause Tiamat made Hugeass and Coldsnap, He must of thought Tiamat also made Extinction. 4. ?????? 5. PROFIT

Use HEK+ to extract the scenario file. Then, open it up with Sapien, to put items in different places, and use Guerilla to "mod" tags. Then, save the scenario file as something else, and compile it with tool. You will now have a brand new map. Besides, if you mod Extinction, and it has the same name as the old one, other people can't join your version. It's best to make it a brand new map.

ok, HEK+.
im not familiar with it, but ill try that. and its not tiamat that made extinction? i htought he did...must have read the wrong readme...
no, i dont want to make this new version/map for profit; i just want to make it fairer for red team. they have horrible spawn points, bad vehicles, and bad weapons. its all underpowered. blue team, on the other hand, has all the goodies. overpowered pelicans, a buggy mythos, jets, anti-armor and anti-aircraft snipers that tear through anything...if you have ever played on it as red team then u know what i mean
i like pancakes better :D
(this new bsp will be awesome, becasue i wont release it until it is 122% awesome; look for the name 'extermination', unless its already taken) this new build will take me a while though, so dont get all jumpy :P Edited by CAG Gonzo on Apr 5, 2009 at 05:05 PM

ya, i just realized that about 2 hours after i posted that last message...
so got a better idea? ill take any suggestions up for consideration
and for the reocrds, i still havent figured out how to actually mod a map with HEK+, just extract stuff for use in other maps. im missing something obvious...the scenario tag wont open with sapien. sapien starts up normally, but then when it looks like its done loading the scenario file, it just closes with no error message or anything >:|

HEK+ doesn't mod maps. It only extracts maps. To mod tags, use Guerilla to open up the tag. And the error for Sapien is located in a text file called debug.txt inside your Halo Custom Edition folder. Copy the last few paragraphs, and paste them here.

ender made the map, not tiamat, ender just used tiamats tags :p
theres no point in asking for permission, ender already said you can edit what he has

You must re-extract those tags, to make sure it opens. HEK+ sometimes misses tags, and doesn't extract them.
