I'm really interested in modding the SP levels and am looking for a tool to extract the files to modify I know the tools exist but I can't seem to find em in the HCE utilities area. If someone could point me in the direction of the tool(s) and maybe a tut on making campaign scenarios. :)

Thanks

How advanced are you? Do you know basic AI placement, scripting, and stuff? Or do you want to start from scratch? No matter what, you're going to want this:

Scripting bible, as a reference guide for scripting.

I'm Pro in Max not so much in Halo need the basics for game implemention, so far it's been easy, I just need the right tools to work with.

HEK+ different than Tool++?

Tool++ puts tags together, and turns them into a map. HEK+ takes a nice and happy map, and rips it into the little bits called tags. I'm assuming you know how to fix missing tag errors?

No I don't know how to fix that, I actually had another topic that people told me that was the issue, I'm straight noob when it comes to working in HCE. Any good tuts would be much appreciated.

Ok, so whenever you have an error, go to the folder C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition. There, find a file called debug.txt. Open it up. Scroll to the bottom, and find every (file_open) error you can find. A file open error usually looks like:

(file_error tags\levels\a10\a10.scenario)

or something like that. See the tags\levels\a10\a10.scenario? That means that you're missing that file. Open HEK+, and open a map that you're sure has the tag you want. Then, browse down the folders. For example, a10.scenario is located in the folder levels\a10. So, in HEK+, open a10.map, and then go to the levels folder. Then a10. Once you find the file called a10.scenario, drag it to the extraction cue. Uncheck "Save extracted tags list", and hit the yellow gear thing on the right. Click the big Use Registry button. Make sure overwrite is off. Then, click Ok. Underneath the extraction cue, hit Start. Wait for the file to be extracted. Note: When extracting the campaign levels, select all the folders, and drag them to the extraction cue. It's much simpler than having to select each file at a time.
