Or a better recorder is Fraps..If its registered. If its a trial it can only record 30sec for each clip. And its says on the top of your vid fraps. when you record with fraps a "90" or "45" or any other 2 digits number will be on your screen. that wont show up on your video. but when its red its recording and when its yellow its not recording.

Xfire is cheap for recording video's, only if you don't aim for high quality and just want to film a simple thing for explanations, then use xfire.
However, for high quality vids, use Fraps, I'm using a fully registred one, wich I record and make all my HD Widescreen vids with, at the cost of a few fps you can make way better vids with it.

IF you want to use fraps trial, do crop the vid though, to remove the fraps logo on the top.

Do not use Hypercam, even the trial is worse as it takes up a quarter of your screen wich is too big to crop.

So you have 3 options:

-Xfire
-Fraps
-Hypercam

Filming your screen with a camera is not an option. (atleast if you don't want a kick)

I prefer xfire for a reason. One, Hypercam is ok, if want pay for it, and plus I've seen the game video of it, isn't that great. Fraps, is fine program to use but, framework isn't that good. Xfire is strong at framework, graphics, but sound not too well. But I think you should stick with Xfire.

I only use xfire if I want a video that doesnt use the ingame sounds; like music, firing sounds, dialog etc. I would reccommend xfire or fraps..

Explain how the framework for Fraps is bad. It records the video and sound in the best quality. It takes high quality screenshots in any format you want (bmp, jpg, etc...).

if you dont have a decent computer, its slows what your trying to record down, making the videos not as good. Also, for some reason, neither fraps nor Xfire seem to treat Halo CE as a game on my computer... anyone know why?

Xfire only detects games that it detected as far as i know, it's designed for games.

Fraps detects ALL aps that render, even media player's visualisations.
Runs all games from dos games like doom 1 to Crysis Warhead, if it doesn't work for you then I guess you did something VERY wrong, you sure it's turned on?

I don't know exactly, but I don't start a argument over recording in game. This what I know, yes it has sreenshot, the speed of frames on frap is ten area, but xfire frame go one hundred. And go ahead and correct if I wrong.

No. In Fraps, you can set the level that the FPS will lock at. You probably set it to record at a lower FPS. I can lock mine at 75 FPS, and it runs fine. This isn't a framework issue.
