If there isn't, I think I have an idea (from too much Java). If I wanted to create a variable called x, and its initially set at 0, and use a loop that terminates when x = 1, what would be the syntax?

No such thing as too much java.
So x is a flag to end the loop if a certain condition becomes false?
It would work, but you're think there would be an easyer way to do it.
From what I've heard, the scripting version of loops do one loop per tick, not all in one tick, which means they aren't usefull for quickly changing indexed things, like, say, looping through all the players. It's better to copy the code and change the numbers then have a continuous scrips with changing variable looping through players.

As for the actual script, sorry, can't help. Consult halo scripting bible.
