I've seen a few maps, like WM_Combo i believe, that change the player model when you spawn.
How teh f**? They're all protected so i can't peek myself, can someone tell me how, or maybe even an example for 2 bipeds, cus that's what i ultimately wanna do, some machinima maps with 2 random starting bipeds, bump possessing isn't optional for what im aiming for...

It's actually just one biped. Just different models.
Like the marines models and bitmaps. How they change each time.

ahh yes, i remember such ones like the random colour h2 biped, when i placed it in sapien it randomly changed colour upon placing...
How could i change my existing ones to change, or do i have to make a complete new one to achieve that?

Random Machinima pic i just made... if i would use bump possession i'd run out of models quickly, and the armor colour would be standard, wich is why i prefer this method.

You make a player spawn in a trigger volume which changes the permutations.

I'm assuming you know how to use a trigger volume in a script. If you don't, here's how:

(script startup [name of script]
(sleep_until (volume_test_objects [name of trigger volume] (players) ) 15)
[code here (i still need to find how to change perm)]

yea, i got that part, but i dont (know how to) write such a script from scratch, i've googled some, but i only stumble on unfinished halo 3 ideas >.<

if would be great if someone could write one for me =P
the rest, i do know how to use it (i think, maybe the script is gonna be like omgwtf)

Name exactly what you want in the script and I'll give it a go.

Actually for a better experience for yourself, I suggest you download a good amount of scripting tutorials from this site, that is where I started. They help a lot. Also, if you need any help with it I'll send you my xfire in a pm.

Well, for this machinima map i only need to use the blank elite model from Hdoan and my own spartan (named it BP_Mark_V ). The whole point is, to be able to randomly spawn as either of them with your own armor colour you chose in the option menu, like usual, something i can't do (colouring) in sapien. Rest of the bipeds will be bump possessed, so it's just those 2 models.
So the script has to make this trigger volume (dont care what its named, your name or so) make the player spawn as either of the models at random, so if i need an elite in his current armor colour, i just kill that player and it spawns back as elite if im lucky, if not kill again lol

No, the armor colour thing may not be possible, unless I am mistaken, in which case I would be gladly dis-approved. So an Elite, and Spartan, so both elites and spartans on the same team?

hmm so its not that like, just a switch between 2 models, so that they, if like just default 1 model, they spawn with their own armor colour, like any normal map?
i would like to try to dissapprove you with the fact that team gametypes have only red and blue models, but i aimed for FFA gametypes to have for example a pink elite

I do believe those are coded permutations, but I've been thinking the Elite model uses permutations also, so, maybe, this can be done also for Multi-player. Although, it is worth looking into, which I will most likely do.

as for the elites, so far as i know they work totally the same as the spartan models, they support colours too, its the most complete model so far, HDoan is great =P



I just made that screenshot in my map i quickly compiled, armor colours do work

just make the trigger zone spawn you with a random biped, either the elite or the spartan

why not make a biped with spartan and elite permutations? then you can make trigger that when they spawn in there, they use either spartan or elite permutations.

If I knew how, I would have done it, that's what we thought earlier off, like the random colour h2 biped and the avalanche models, the problem is, how to merge 2 existing models like that? I just get both at once lol, no actually I just crash but I'm just doing it completely wrong, I know that for sure =P now to know how to make it work, either way through scripting or the biped itself, I'd like to hear how
