What are the appropriate settings for AI variants to drive and fire scorpions in combat? I would love to create a massive AI tank battle in a desert setting, with each side blasting away at the other. Anyway to have elite drive a scorpion?

first, so he can enter it, either give the elite a seat label for scorpion-driver, or change the scorpion seat to G-driver.
Second, make it so Ai can move the scorpion.. just check the AI flying flag near the bottem of the vehicle (this will make them just floor it, and turn when they must.. scorpions dont work that well since they turn the turret seperatly from the tank.. this really makes them bad at turning), nad give em some avoidance distances (this makes them avoid objects.. but this only works when there arnt enemys around... desire to kill overrides this function) also set the speed they are willing to drive at, ect

I haven't had any problems with other vehicles such as hogs, jets, pelicans, you name it. For some reason scorpions have been giving me problems with AI getting in...probably had the wrong seat assigned. I will try the above.
There have been some great guidelines on how to get hogs and AI to behave, so I may apply some of those suggestions also. I have had no problems with squads jumping in them and going on a covie hunt. One suggestion I give is to add commands for each marine start position, with the majority of them to get in "any seat but driver". On one out of 4 or 5 marines, I direct them to get in "any seat". This forces them to fill the gunner and passenger seats before a driver hops in and takes off without them.
By the way, any suggestions for a large desert map. I would like to have about 5 or 6 tanks on each side, and a couple of jets swooping down or dogfighting above. Maybe some banshees on the cov side. Edited by Mysterion on Dec 31, 2008 at 09:12 AM

Why would you want to limit them?.. dont you want them to go and hunt for enemies while avoiding walls instead of trying to pass threw them?.. thats all you could really ask for; enemies that hunt, and arnt retardedly humping the walls

Kirby: Maybe I don't do it properly, but when I check that AI flying flag and set the avoidance distance, they still end up humping a wall somewhere.

There is a written tutorial somewhere in the download section concerning settings for AI driving vehicles, and how to make the AI less stupid. It works very well with some vehicles, and maybe not so well with others. You have to experiment with the settings after trying it out.
I have not had to set commands, nor add script for the driver to track down the enemy and either run or gun them down. I do set the move and firing points in the general vicinity of where I want the to drive and battle, and they will drive around this area every time. Edited by Mysterion on Dec 31, 2008 at 01:10 PM

The link I posted earlier tells you how to get them to follow command lists.
A side effect of them being able to follow command lists means that they can move, period. Set some move positions or firing positions and they WILL go to them. They won't move all the time (particularly if the position isn't in front of them), but they'll move. They also won't brainlessly knock off all of their allies in their attempts to drive, instead stopping to let them (and you) get out of the way first.
Checking the AI driver flying flag will cause them to floor it. They will drive like utter morons and kill everything in their path. There were numerous times where they floored it while I was trying to shoot an enemy... and instead of hitting the enemy, they hit me instead. Edited by drillinstructor on Jan 1, 2009 at 04:37 PM

I know. I set the AI throttle at about half speed as a test. They drive slower and STILL kill more of their teammates than enemies. It is quite amusing to watch, but still.

Wait do the AI have to spawn in the warhog when teh game starts or will they automaticly hop in? Also is there a way to make them not spawn in it and then have you get in the turret or riding seat and then have them drive? is there a script? also what is the script and the way to make them follow you on foot if anyone could link me to a tut (video tut prefered) or make one for both these questions/AI options please.
EDIT: i would like to do this in all vehicles and also do you use G-driver for all vehicles or just the tank? Would all characters be compatible with G driver like would the MC ai be compatible or teh biped\animations? Edited by pakar45 on Jan 1, 2009 at 09:43 PM

G-driver = Ghost driver W-driver = Warthog driver
Open up the vehicle tag in Guerilla, and you will see the true nature of the seat. Or, ask me in Xfire. To get them to spawn in the vehicle, use the (vehicle_load_magic) command, or create a command list, and tell them to get in.
