So I am making some animated scenery and got it in sapien and it works. YAY

(well, kinda. How do you find the render and collision bounding radius for animated scenery? I tried making a sphere from the origin in max and seeing at what radius it completely envelopes the scenery at all times, 1222 max units, which should be 12.22 in halo, so that's what I set it to, but marines fall out of it half way up (it's a lift), and it has some weird viewing problems from different angles and heights)

Anyway, I wanted to add some effects. I have 2 markers and I tried attaching stuff to them but they don't appear in game (though an attached sound does play...constantly. It's the only thing not attached to any markers). I tried the monitor glow rings, baton light, steam explosion effect, and banshee contrail. I know that there are things I need to set to make it work, I just don't know what. Could someone please explain attachments, widgets, and functions in scenery tags? or what you know of them and what they do?

Also, should markers be half way in the geometry, completely out of it, or completely in it? Mine are positioned so their centers are just outside the geometry.

Can someone also please explain what the different animation formats are for?

And does anyone happen to have links to the very latest version of HEK+ and the HEK programs (guerrilla, sapien)?

Might as well throw this out there as well: halo 2 music tags anyone?

And please reply to this!!!!!!!!

Thank you!

Use search, you CAN find the HEK+, HEK, Alternatives to HEK programs, and the Music for any of the games.

If you have trouble i will hunt it down for you. But try.

Yes I found the music and I think I have all the latest HEK+ and HEK tools. I had to search just "music tags" instead of "halo 2 music tags". Whatver.

(Now I have a new question: Is there a quick reference table for the halo 1 music tags that are created when extracting the sp levels that tells you their names as they would appear on the soundrack? For instance, it would list all the tags in levels\whateverlevel\music. Like for a50, a50_02 = Under Cover of Night. Because with their default names if very hard to tell what they are. You have to play them un guerilla or sapien.)

Now, if anyone can please help me with the scenery, attachements, and animaion questions...

I was also wondering if it's possible to turn particle effects on and off with scrips. Like to turn a gravity lift and its particles on and off.

Thank you!!!!

bout the biped falling off, it may be the animation going too fast, or wobbly, but I hadn't considered the bounding as a possible cause in my experiments. To do the bounding, make a sphere in max that encompasses both the lift's positions. If your units are generic in max (see Customize menu), divide the sphere's radius, and offset, by 100 to get the halo units.
I'm pretty sure a marker can be in the model. Stuff might not get out if the collision is double sided, though ;P

Thank you for encouraging them.

About the sphere to use for the render and bounding radei, should it be at the oregin? Or should it's center be at the center of the main frame? (In my case, my frame is centered at the oregin) If not, if it's possible for it not to be, how would that affect settings in guerilla?

One more thing to add to those above, why won'y my "alpha grate%#." material work? It's being used as a floor that seperates the area you walk on from an area underneath (thus the 2 sides, "%"), it has the transparent thing, "#" because it's supposed to have see through parts and light should go through it, and it has the "." so it can be an exact portal and the 2 areas it seperates can have different portal properties, but tool doesn't recognize it. It did before I put the "." to make it an exact portal. Does anyone have experience uning the "." exact portal shader symbol and know why mine might not work? Does being 2 sided or tranparent make also make it not able to be an exact portal? Can materials only have 2 shader symbols to work and tool won't recognize them if they have a third?

Keep them answeres comin!

And please respond to this!!!
