I am uploading a new map mod called Extinction_AI_Nightfight, with a Shiva Longsword bomber included. Added an additional beam spire near marine base and blue emitters now work. Tweaked a few things such as the the red team flag is slightly further away from you when teleporting into the cov base. Transported marines will now charge elite guards when exiting pelicans or hogs in covenant territory.

Blue and red beams into deep space...

Now thats gonna leave a mark!

Leave us stupid human in flimsy metal piece of garbage!

I STOMP your corpse human fool!

Here is the link to a bunch of screenshots:

I never regarded Extinction as a very good map. Those Jets work good, but i think they pretty much are a flimsy metal piece of garbage.

The Longsword Class Interceptor is the same. It works good, but i feel it was done sort of wrong.

I know they came with a Tactical Nuke, but is that the Nuke you put in that ACTUALLY Nukes your Processor while Frying your graphics card? I would like to keep my 4200+ AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core and my NVIDIA GeForce 6200SE.

Not to mention. That is not a Shiva. Nothing annoys me more than people not getting halo facts right (though i try to control this).

The Shiva is a Warship Grade Nuclear Missile. Cruisers only carry Three. They are self-powered Missiles that can take out entire, if not multiple, Covenant Capital Cruisers. You would fry the entire map with one of those. And at the same time, you would turn Sidewinder into an actual Death Island, and put Death Island in a Nuclear Winter. Not to mention your Processor...

Sorry to burst your bubble. But if it is better, you can still call it a stronger tactical nuke.

UNSC Scientists have modified the Shiva warhead for deployment by the Longsword Bomber...in the world of Halo CE, anything is possible (within reason)! The map works well with an old Pentium 4 with 128mb graphics card, as long as you adjust the graphics settings down.

It won't fry your graphics card, though I have created a monster bomb that was so explosive you couldn't see anything except white from a good distance away...

Trust me it looks great...the pictures don't do it any justice. Convertshots makes them look darker for some reason.

By the way, concerning the Shiva nuke warhead:
It is a ship-mounted thermonuclear missile, outfitted with a varying payload, a thermonuclear warhead assumable, to be anywhere from a twenty to eighty Megaton yield depending on its type (most of the missiles utilize UNSC standard 30-megaton HAVOK thermonuclear warhead).

Used by UNSC Capital ships and Cruisers, it can also be fitted on C709 Longsword interceptors for a low-profile insertion. They can also be fitted with guidance computers for increased accuracy. Upon detonation, the Shiva-class Nuclear Warhead releases a massive EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse), effectively disabling electronics aboard nearby ships.

It should be noted that Covenant Capital ship shields have enough power to absorb a full thermonuclear blast from far away, but not directly. If the warhead detonates inside the shield, the effects of the blast is multiplied tremendously, due to the ship's shields containing the blast. This is demonstrated in the battle of Reach by Captain Keyes while piloting the Pillar of Autumn.

You're correct though Foxtrot, even the smallest 20 MT Shiva would probably reduce the entire Extinction map into a glass parking lot. The standard nuke from a Longsword looks to be the equivalent of a MOAB rather than a nuke, however, the smallest bunkerbuster nukes available can be less than half a kiloton in explosive power. I think the Davy Crockett nuke that was designed for a howitzer shell, could pack approximately 1 kiloton.

The Longsword's main weapons are 110mm rotary cannons, as well as 120mm ventral guns, for dog fighting in space. This versatile fighter can be armed with an assortment of secondary weapons including ASGM-10 Missiles, bombs, Moray Space Mines, Scorpion Missiles, and can even heft a single Shiva Nuclear Warhead. The Longsword is usually deployed against Seraph fighters in space combat and Covenant artillery in planetary combat. It also may escort Pelicans as they head for the surface of a planet. It can also be remote piloted, carrying a single Shiva Nuclear Warhead, destroying the enemy ship and itself as well when the opportunity arises.

The Longsword fighter with a Shiva Nuclear Warhead was only used once, by the Pillar of Autumn during the battle of Reach. A piloted Longsword fighter carrying more than one Shiva nuclear warheads has never been heard of before. Therefore, you should rename the nuclear weapon. Maybe Super Mega Death Explosion That Lags Low End Computers? Or you could use a FENRIS nuke, a smaller low-yield thermonuclear device.

With the UNSC nukes, no one would live for more than 3 seconds. Even underground.

Sorry I don't have your mapmaking skills DarkZealot.

I think for the first map I ever modded and released, I didn't do to bad of a job with Extinction_AI. It was just to be used for personal LAN fun for my son and I, but thought I'd would share it with others. For a first mod with over 5000 downloads, I'm not that ashamed of the project. If anyone else out there enjoys playing, and has some fun with it, I'll be proud of that. Thanks (DA)Ender for such a great map to work with...this mod is my way of honoring his good work!

Thanks for the kind words...

Defensive much?

I'm implying that AI mods are the last thing I want to download. Even blood gulch mods with NO AI I will download, because it doesn't screw up gameplay at all. Most people find shooting AI that don't sync relatively boring in multiplayer, at least in single player they are scripted to do cool stuff or something.

If this mod had no AI in it I would've downloaded (would've the key word because my CE directory is teh dead) it. Any map with AI in it that's not SP deters me, a lot. It's pointless shooting at never ending bots, I'm sorry to say I'd have more fun watching the History channel (omfg).

But that's my two-cents which no one cares about so feel free to ignore it like 85% of the map makers.

Hey I want to download this it looks great. I like the night sky and the way you made the screenshots. I have a question about the site you uploaded your pictures to. Is that one site that will host images that will show up on halomaps.org?

the nuke is STRONGER but the radius isnt FURTHER! the halo ce nuke is perfect all except for one thing... its blast/kill radius.... it should be further. If you ever decide to remake this map (and this is my opinion and theirs nothing that says i cant state it) you should do the following

1* Get rid of ai
2*fix blast radius for nuke
3*make a better mushroom cloud (seriously am tired of the same one being used over and over again... its not even life sized >_> it reminds me of the size of walmart.)

and theirs a epically awesome map were people can nuke to their hearts desire and still have a fun ctf game... also if you think the nuke will take away from gameplay then make it were the blast cant go through hills or rocks so in that case if a person is able to take cover (which they should be because the longswords will be high in the sky to avoid killing themselves) then they will be safe. Theres my Barron-tastic opinion... whats yours?

Just create a hotmail account for picture uploads.

You don't want to make the longsword nuke too big or you kill everything...its about 3x as powerful as the standard nuke if my settings were correct. The blast, flash and glare are set to give it good effect. I created at test nuke using 200 nuke tags, and it just creates an big round fireball that slowly fades...the more nuke tags, the more lag. I may fiddle around with mushroom cloud and see if I can make it rise higher and last longer.

You can make the explosion more powerful but all that will do is send vehicles and bodies flying further when hit with it... What you should do is make the kill radius further... making it more powerful is not really going to do anything, as for making it further will make the explosion more realistic and kill people from a further distance.... and their shouldn't be a problem with killing everyone on the map because the blast can be blocked by objects such as small hills and larger structures so no worries... to tell you the truth i see no point in making it stronger other then being able to say that your nuke can launch a warthog thousands of feet in the air instead of a regular nuke
