How do you modify the Nuke weapon for the Longsword so that it creates, say 10x the blast of the standard (tactical nuke) that it drops. Wanting to add such a bomber and weapon to a new large map project. I have used a combination of 10 nuke tags for a force multiplier, but don't know what I need to change on the Longsword nuke. Thanks

dear processor, you and i have had some good time together, from processing all of my babbling here on halomaps, to processing the HDR in oblivion, to processing my models in 3ds max. i always loved the way you tried to make me sterile by making the laptop hot enough to fry an egg. i always loved how my computer would show those messages saying "critical temperature reached" and then the pretty blue screen with the white writing all over it would pop up and i would laugh. then the computer turned off and smoke spewed out of the fan vent. please burn my house down with the heat you will generate from this super nuke map i just downloaded. i apologize that it had to end this way, but i must see the super nuke ~Donut

Careful, I created one with over 100 nuke tags in a big pile...so many, it blew every tag out of my screen! I pray your laptop doesn't have an integrated graphics processor.

why spam using a nuke when you can just edit it... open the tag, then just make it bigger then give it 100x bigger explosion, 100x more damage, and 100x stronger flip. no need to burn out computers.

Which fields do you edit for increasing the power?

Do any other fields need to be tweaked to increase the size of the fireball and cloud?

Just experimenting with increasing the size of explosive damage, fireball and mushroom cloud. I would love to create a scenario where each team fought to get posession of one longsword located in the middle of a large map which carried such a device. It would reap total destruction on the other teams base if dropped (from high altitude), and score a point. The defending team would have to fight "tooth and nail" to shoot down the bomber before it delivered the "package". The bomber either needs to automatically respawn back at the center of the map, or you just have to keep attacking it until you kill the pilot, or destroy the longsword altogether such that it respawns. There would be a massive dogfights with jets either attacking and defending the bomber while in transit.
How about a portable timed nuclear device (similar to C-4) that one team could transport to the other teams base, and detonate. If you happened to be on the receiving end, you might be able to pick it back up and take it a clear safe distance away from the base before it explodes...a super-nuke hot potato! If you are trying to get the bomb away from your base with the timer now running, the offensive team should try to kill you to keep it close enough to destroy the base. Somehow, everyone needs to see a visible clock ticking away on their screen.
Could a trigger volume be set up that would prevent you from dropping it unless you were within a certain range above the enemy base, thereby keeping you from just dropping the bomb in transit, and killing yourself as well as the enemy? There would need to be a simlar rule/setup for a portable device. If you drop it just anywhere on the map, or near your own base, the timer won't start. However, if you were in close proximity to the enemy base, the timer would start, and won't stop until it explodes! Whichever team blows up the other's base 1, 3 or 5 times, wins. When the timer starts, there should be just enough time on the clock for a defending player to pick it up, jump in a jet and attempt to deliver it to the opposing teams base.
Hugeass or Coldsnap might be good maps to mod this on, or maybe a new massive map. I think this would add an entirely new element to HALO CE that as far as I know, has never been done before. Edited by Mysterion on Oct 31, 2008 at 09:01 PM

Sounds like Assault, but with the intent of turning the other team's territory into a parking lot, instead of just their base. lol

I know a guy was thinking about a space dogfight type map. Nuclear bomber control would be neat for a space dogfight battle. It could be in high atmosphere, so that Air vehicles can be used.
If longswords drop tactical nukes, you could have longswords carrying Shivas, which can take out entire Covenant Capital Cruisers...

Just created at tag for a "superfighterbomber", with a nuke several times more explosive and destructive as the original. Been testing it out on a compiled map. Changed the hull to look a bit different, and same shade as the interior.
At first I made the fireball around 10 times larger than the original, but it lit up the entire screen even when it was dropped from as high as possible, and banked the bomber as far away from the point of detonation as I could...now that was pretty awesome! What is the point of bombing a base when the nuke (when dropped from a safe altitude) takes about 15 sec to detonate, and someone who hears it (I hope) will run?
Nukes are pointless, they rarely kill anyone. And if they do it kills the deployer as well.

I just used the interior bitmap which makes it look a little different than the black longsword...maybe I'll call it a "Shiva Bomber" thanks to the recommendation.
Last night I uploaded a new map mod called NoWayOut_MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). It has fewer AI, so gameplay should be a bit smoother, and has a new modified bomber tag called "Shiva Longsword" with a more powerful Shiva nuke warhead. Edited by Mysterion on Nov 12, 2008 at 03:08 PM
