ok so im not familiar with halos engine but can we make custom jump animations so it looks like he is skydiving?and in fpv it looks like he puts his gun away and it looks like crysis skydiving? now i know it will look retarded jumping normally but it could be a good start considering there are someskydive maps. Also is making a parachute as a weapon possible? like it in fpv it looks like the chief is holding on to the straps the chute pack has on his chestplate and in gameplay it looks like the one from MoH airborne? Can a parachute even be done btw like when you "shoot" he pulls the chute and you fall down slower and lighter?

Custom 3p jumping animations, yes. Fp anims when falling, no. Parachute, probably with scripting. Falling slower: No.

well i think it might be interesting enough if the first weapon given is a parachute for jumping out of a D77 that can't find an LZ. it is given one "bullet". thats all you can carry, and it wouldn't be possible to have any more. Perhaps it could be a personal thing. perhaps it could actually be made to have an important usage. who knows. but it should be made a third weapon like the C4 from Coldsnap. then either you used it, or you can't discard it.
a number of things could be done. and for those who don't know, LZ is a Landing Zone, and D77 is short for Dropship 77-Troop Carrier, or your standard issue pelican. Not to be confused with the D77H-TCI Pelican Dropship, the new model placed into production starting around November 2552, or in other words, the Halo 3 Era Pelican.

Halo 2 takes place in November 2552. Halo 3 takes place in 2553.

A direct quote from Halopedia states this: Model: Pelican Dropship 77-Troop Carrier -Variants: ---Halo 1 & 2: D77-TC ---Halo 3: D77H-TCI therefor claiming that the D77-TC was used in Halo and Halo 2, and that the D77H-TCI was used in Halo 3. Furthermore (D77-TC): It's been made the UNSC's primary tactical support aircraft, fulfilling the role of tactical transport and gunship since at least 2525. The Pelican's crew compartments can be sealed and the craft made suitable for limited space flight; however, the Pelican doesn't have Slipspace capabilities. They are mainly responsible for flying in the heaviest equipment and troops, as well as rescuing from hot LZ's. They are responsible for the many Marine and Spartan lives saved when there was no hope of getting out of an operation gone wrong. They also deliver vehicles and troops where required on the battlefield. This tactical advantage means that commanders can quickly influence an engagement by supplying his/her forces with reinforcements and/or equipment, or evacuate them in the face of being overpowered. Standard armament consists of one Class 3 externally powered projectile weapon at the fore of the vehicle and one Class 1 gas operated projectile weapon mounted at the rear in the extended crew area. More heavily armed versions exist such as the Pelican dropship that the SPARTAN-IIs added armor to in the novel The Fall of Reach. And (D77H-TCI): The D77H-TCI Pelican is a newer model of the venerable D77-TC Pelican , recently introduced into service within the UNSC Marine Corps and Navy in late 2552 and early 2553 (the Halo 3 era). It differs from the D77-TC in many respects, but is also improved in several ways. It still operates as a flexible dropship/gunship VTOL. thank you halopedia http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Pelican see for yourself now can we get back on topic please?

Well if you found a way to make the parachute give upward thrust to slow but not stop the fall, its possible. But i don't think so. Its perhaps possible as a vehicle, so that when you get in, its taking the parachute off of a rack and strapping it on. Then you jump out and fire its "weapon" being in third person the whole time. Firing the parachute deploys it. I believe its possible to make it keep that way and not stop or fire again. Then if you gave it a slow thrust down, it would simulate the gliding down. You'd need a way to keep the chute always up, and then the controls might be as follows;
Controls look like the player is shifting their weight primarily with their legs, and allows for slow movement, but not fast enough to get out of where you want them to land. Forward does just that, backwards does nothing, and the side keys would rotate the player.
You could force the player out of the vehicle when they hit the ground, then destroy it and replace it with a scenery of a parachute sprawled on the ground. make sure that if you intend on giving players vehicles that they can't get back into the area with them as it would be crazy if they randomly got out of the vehicle there.
Because vehicles sync, this is even a logical entrance to a multiplayer map. Just make sure that the teams jump out of different aircraft into different locations...
EDIT: I also forgot youd also need to force the player to stay in the parachute vehicle, too. perhaps if you included falling damage, they would die if they jump out without a chute... Edited by FoxtrotZero on Oct 26, 2008 at 05:52 PM
