You have bad topology, post up a wire frame and I'll help you out.

Create a blend material in Max, in the first mat just have a diffuse color and in the second check the box at the top of the shader wireframe. Then set the blend to 50% and render.

Make that surface planar. In poly, and face, press make planar. It will fix your problem.

If its going to be completely flat, then select those edges in edge mode, and hit your backspace key.
