Well i have decided on what my first project will be.
I was hoping to design the next generation of warthog. being a already existing vehicle, i think it should be a reduced effort. this is a project, that like many, i would perfer to keep under wraps, but i need help none the less.

the first feature has already been done, but i am putting it in. A Horn for the driver, as seen with the Warthogs from CMT's Snow Grove.

next feature, i want to know if it is at all possible to put in an E-Brake for the warthog, like it appeared in Halo 2. i doubt it, but if there is a way.

the next one is for the passenger seat of the hog. i don't klnow if this one is doable. Many vehicles have features that are implemented by holding Ctrl (control) and i had an idea. an In-Warthog Crouch.

the idea with the crouch is that the player is normally a little higher up. but with holding the CTRL buton, the idea is that the player will "crouch" down to sit down like the driver. the idea is that when crouched down they present less of a target, which might be useful (i know half the time i cant hit anything but the surrounding wall because of the frenzied driving) the player can not throw grenades or fire their gun. their gun would be held up to prevent issures with guns like the sniper rifle, but it might cause issues with shoulder weapons like the Rocket launcher or CMTs Spartan Laser. i don't know if exceptions can be made, with shoulder mounted weapons being held differently... the backpack weapon mod, after all, was able to place certain weapons on the hip or back based on size...

the next one i am sure can be done. i know in some maps, dark areas actually DO become situations. so i was hoping to mount some light fixture(s) on the gun turret of the vehicle, allowing extra illumination for the gunner.

the next idea, and im not sure if this is doable either, but i have a feeling, is a secondary weapon for the gunner - grenades.

the key point here is that they shouldn't be using an infinate amount of grenades, but their own grenades. meaning that the secondary fire will throw a grenade, their grenade count has to be visible, and the G key needs to actually swap the type of grenade. is this possible?

the last idea i had would be an improved HUD. First step is that the other people in the vehicle, their health is not only visible, but also their shield level. i am sure this is possible, but i don't know. it would be a bit of a step forward.

the second part, and i am sure that this is possible, is not only allowing the driver to see the health of the passenger and gunner, but letting the passenger see the health of the driver and gunner, and the gunner seeing the health of the driver and passenger. this helps keep everyone informed as they probally should be, and could be useful in an emergency "under fire" type situation.

so these are my ideas. the object here is to know if it is possible, because i do not plan on starting anytime soon, as i do not know how half of this is even doable.

youd be surprised what is possible with the halo editing kit. but youd also be surprised what ISN'T possible with the Halo Game Engine.

I've also got some warthog tags that you can toggle the lights on/off by holding crouch.
If you want them, tell me.

The E-Brake was a relatively Recent addition to this idea. It isn't important, especially concidering i wasn't expecting this to work.

thanks for the help. im sure if that can be done, can this script be made to identify the weapon the player is holding and put it in the proper holding position? i don't want clipping, but i am hoping to avoidd the player looking like an idiot.

could you offer any insight on the other sections of this project? or most importantly, could you help me through the entire thing? i know i am tackling something small compared to a map, but it is still my first project. i am going to need help on just about every front.

actually, an anti-armor Hog is one of my many projects. but that one is being mentally reviewed, because of my OTHER project, the hellfire tank. we will see.

you said the player would be standing up when he threw the grenade? thats well and good. there was a terrible mistake with the scorpion side seat in the fact that players stand up and throw grenades. does the warthog passenger do this too?

anywho, will he be able to keep his right hand on the turret and his feet in place when he throws the grenade? and furthermore, i want to make sure that he isn't using his OWN weapon when he fires, but that he uses HIS grenade supply when he throws the grenades (remember, the G key needs to work)

also, i had forgotten. i want to make the turret a small bit more accurate. not terribly so, just that it fires a small bit straighter.

oh, one more thing. i need a .gmax file of a warthog. else this won't be going anywhere, because first thing first i need to add the light(s) onto the Hog Turret.

is there any way to put in new animations so it will not do that? its not an attractive thing. i realized that people would glide when they threw grenades because the animation did not include running when i was in a hectic grenades n shottys battle on beaver creek. i realized that sideseaters of the scorpion did it on a tank battle in blood gulch, and now i know that the warthog passenger does it.

there isn't much hope for running people, but i think we could put in...less rediculous animations for the vehicles.

i can't find a Gmax model of a warhog. which i need. can anybody either aquire that for me, or point me in the direction of one? remember, it needs to be a .Gmax file.
