Halo Custom Edition V1.08 Update Released

Bungie has released a final update patch for the server crashing issues and buffer overrun attacks that has plagued earlier versions of the game. In addition to correcting the security issues this patch also removes the requirement to have the Halo PC CDROM inserted into your machine in order to play. The update is NOT backward compatible with other versions, meaning that the client and server MUST be running the same version in order to play. You still are required to own a copy of the Halo PC game and have a valid Product key to play the game. This patch will be made mandatory as an auto-update sometime on Aug 8-2008. You may down load the update from The file archive. Also released is a Halo CE Dedicated server update for those people who have installed the server separately from the client. lol but anyways, even though it's an old topic, i wonder why everyone is all worked up about apps not being able to use, i updated, and EVERY APP still works for me, tell me, what app wouldn't work for 1.08 and is certain to not work? i can join every server and use the app, don't know why i can and others don't

..error? As soon as start Halo CE Dedicated Server update version 1.08. Its said, strings. idll is missing.

Bungie only removed the CD check, with an illegal serial you won't be able to join servers, you'll get an error every time you join one.

Anyhow, the game is really cheap nowadays, just buy it anyways

yes i cant go on online play but my CD broke so i cant start Custstom edditon
But with this update i can now dowload maps

no seriously, i do. Nobody believs that i have a real puchased hlo.
the only things i pirate are various goods and spices and american ships in the indian ocean.

well, unless someone managed to guess your CD key, i don't see how it could be invalid.

I have the halo CD but i get no-cds because im to lazy to put the disk in the drive
