I am not attempting to tackle this. Yet.
But what i am attempting to mention is that when people create custom weapons,l obviously animation is involved. Basically in firing, extensively in reloading and melee.
So precisely how is this done? I have noticed that there are diferences between a model of a weapon on the floor and one in your hands, but this is mostly just fine detail. I also know that the reload process only need be from the player's view because I have never seen another player reload.
Furthermore i want to notice that in Coldsnap, the huge overpowered rifle does not allow you to melee. I don't know that you can't melee. But i know that if i press my melee button, i don't see my rifle thrown infront of me. Does the weapon melee, but just doesn't have an animation, or is it entirely deactivated. Also, i recall seeing others melee, so that means an animation for this must also be concieved.
Like i said, i will no time soon be trying to make a weapon. I am just wondering how it is gone about, because i know it can't be simple.

The meele was taken out becasue in such a huge map it was not needed. Also, im not 100% sure, but i THINK tiamt DIDNT animate the meele. Anyway, Im not an animator but i know a few. The animations can take anywhere from a few minutse to a few hours, Depending on your skills level.
