does any know how to modify the default maps (bloodgulch, a10, chillout, etc.)

Now when you say modify that could mean 2 things.

1. You need HEK+ to rip everything from the bloodgulch.map so you can use the scenerio. Then after you completed that you need Sapien, which comes with HEK, to open the scenerio so you can place objects like scenery, weapons, vehicles or bipeds.

2. You need HEK+ to rip the scenerio_structure_bsp file, then you need to download a bsp converter which converts the bsp into a .obj file that can be opened in 3dsMax so you can edit the model. Then you have to go through the map making process.

It's that easy!

Only if you know how to follow instructions. The other way is easier.
