by open do you mean that you have tryed to open it by double clicking on it like it is a applaction? if you have tool dosn't work like that. you first have to open the commad prompt then navagate to the halo ce root dir and the type in the commad you wont. ie tool.exe bitmaps levels\test\tutoral\bitmaps if you wont a applaction that you dont need to open the command promt download this applaction which will run the commands for you. http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=578 Edited by killer kiwi on Jul 15, 2008 at 04:29 PM

wow, vista is always the issue. i made a couple of models and they compiled fine, and converted many bitmaps. I have vista, and I wish people would stop putting down my os!!

One thing i did that helps alot and saves time is to copy my actual command prompt aplication start>search> type in "cmd", should be somewhere in c:\windows\system32 or somethin), and copy it to your halo ce directory. then when it opens, the hale ce directory is already there, and you can just type in tool.exe bla bla bla. My original command prompt was wierd and wouldn't let me get t the halo ce directory but this fixed that. Tool++ is also great!

by the way... the command you are using is:
tool.exe bitmaps levels\coldsnap_valley\bitmaps\ground
try tool.exe bitmaps levels\coldsnap_valley\bitmaps
for the bitmaps command in tool... you type in the source directory not the source directory + the specific file as you did in
tool.exe bitmaps levels\coldsnap_valley\bitmaps\ground
