Ok, I'm doing a large, aerial battle-based map containing a heck of a lot of AI. Before people say, yes I know their flying sucks, as does their shooting, but I will get that sorted out at a later date. I just wanted to know how many AI characters (bipeds) could be in a single map without massive amounts of lag (they won't be close together seeing as the map would be measured in miles not metres).
And for the love of God could somebody please answer if they actually know (you don't need to pretend that you know what you are talking about, half the people around here don't anyway :D )

Edit: Dammit, I spelt "technical" wrong.

There is no limit, it all depends on your PC. Mine can handle about 150 AI units, with all the shots being fired.

Shweeet!

So if I have a computer with a very good amount of RAM and hard drive memory (if that even makes a difference), I should be able to hold a lot? Maybe like.........500 AI? [Omglolzwtf hartattk!] Thanks.

If you have a good PC, then yes, but you must keep others with low-end PCs in mind. You could create two versions of map, one for high-end and one for low-end.

yeah thats what I was thinking of doing, and probably releasing a version of the map purely for players in a smaller map, no AI.
