Perhaps alter the bsp to include some kind of glacial crack/crevice on either side that you are able to jump down into. This could be sloped inside to speed you down to the ground. http://k41.pbase.com/g3/21/562721/2/56531746.Glacier_Ceiling_Tunnel.jpgWho knows even an underground section, after all its a big island, lots of space underneath. In terms of the slope idea, I was picturing something like the snow grove waterfall, as you can slide down that and take no damage.
For this map it would have to be taller and probably either the same steepness or less, depending where you put it.

Quote: --- Original message by: selentic Death Island is really beyond repair gameplaywise. This is a perfect example of how differently people play the game and have different likes and dislikes. I always thought that Death Island had great game play because it covered so many aspects of the Halo game. In a stock default game it had Banshee battles, tank and hog battles, sniper spots and open field and enclosed space battles. There is Banshee to ground attacks, banshee to tank attacks, Hog to both banshee and tank battles and plenty of room to get a respite from the fighting when needed. Custom games allowed people to concentrate on one particular aspect or any or all of them. I can respect that you do not like the game play style of Death Island just as I dislike the game play style of wizard. You just have to remember that not everyone has your likes and dislikes, especially when designing a map.

For this map it would have to be taller and probably either the same steepness or less, depending where you put it. It would look nice if you had a frozen waterfall, then a little bit of water going down it over the ice. And teleporters to the middle area, a reverse grav lift, or a ladder might be a good way to go up and down. And that snow needs to be more bumpy with a bit of specular, like icefields or sidewinder snow.

i always liked the race gametype for death island, i wonder how the ice (and snow i guess) will change that gametype? I wouldn't imagine the snow would affect the hogs at all, but the ice can be quite a pain; like say in snowgrove or ice fields

Good job. It's nice to see you're working on something for Halo again. I think with some of the suggestions people have, it'll be a much better version of Death Island. Perhaps you could edit the vehicles you have and add in some 'snow' on it. For example, make the edges around the inside of the warthog's turret raised up a bit and have a white texture. I think that would be pretty cool if you could apply it to every vehicle, even though you have the snow hog made, you could apply the same idea to a banshee if you plan on keeping them in the map, and definitely to the slow-moving tank.
