Ok, about three weeks ago I started a map I now named Relinguished. I know I said I would post updates in the earlier thread, but it was buried in the forums so I decided not to bump it. Saturday last week I got it in-game for the first time. Since then I've been tweaking things up and today I completed a quick ground texture and put in ladders. It is still in its very early stages with pretty sloppy textures, bland hallways, and many other things. Nothing in this is final, the weapon placements are pretty random and I am not sure what vehicles to put in. Obviously the light maps are well, not so great, that's because I paused it in the middle of radiosity because it was going to take hours to complete. I should be releasing an early beta version of the map within a few weeks. "To do" list:
- Better weapon/vehicle placement
- Better textures/models
- Custom sky model
- Add player clipping
- Complete high quality light map
- Mabye add one teleporter from in the Blue base to somewhere else
- Add better portals (not teleporters, rendering portals)
- Add the opposite river bank in the sky model
- A whole lot of other things I can't think of right now
Also, I have been using Blender Foundation to model and UVW map this instead of 3dsMax or Gmax, so I would have been further on this map, but everytime I update the BSP I have to redo textures in Max. Now for the in-game screens. As I stated above, it is still in its very early stages and textures, modeling, weapon/vehicle placement, etc are definatly not final. Overhead view of map: General Red base area front: General Red base area back: Red base tunnel entry: Blue base area: Blue base side: Blue base back: Blue base back looking in: Blue base interior 1: Blue base interior 2: Middle room view 1 Middle room view 2 "Where the blue plasma stuff goes" Side cliff view: Side overview of map: View of river bank: (modified FOV) Crashed Pelican: (senery on cliff only) The rest are pictures of the previous base I "based the base off of" ( these aren't in this map): (please tell me if you can't view any of the 20 screenshots) Also, I was going to say alot of other things, but they slipped from my mind and should click pretty soon. Add some more detailed textures instead of that old metal texture, and it will be beautiful.

Your bases suck and it doesn't look natural. Besides that, the terrain is nice and it looks like it's balanced.

BTW, just incase any of you thought this, the last three screenshots AREN'T in this map, they're just from a map I used to test vehicles and I started over on the base in Relinguished.

Yeah, it's not supposed to be "the new best map ever", it's just supposed to have some decent modeling and gameplay, nothing special. However, I feel like a broken record now, but the map is still in its very early stages, I'm slow at this stuff, it will have many more improvements. Yes but most of us want a map that looks good, not flat uninteresting and boring. youve got the potential but your not useing it. you asked for crit and we are giving it to you.

Yes, I'm not complaining about the critizism(sp?), I don't mind at all. I'm just saying that it is in very early phases, I might be faster if I learned how to use one of the Max's. I do recommend useing 3ds max becuase its much easier to use than blender and you can make some better model in that im looking forward to this map :P

the outside of the red base is extremely grodey its too flat
