I was going through the tutorial, better AI part one, and got to the end where the guy said that he would show me how to get the map I modded in-game.... the problem here is that 1) there is no "better AI part two" that I could find and 2) I tried converting the .scenario to an actual map through the normal methods presented in beginner tutorials but was unsuccesful. What's the catch? Thanks!

You compile it the same way as a normal map... maybe you didnt type the command right.
tool build-cache-file levels\test\tutorial\tutorial

i would just use Tool++ and use its build cache file command. it's faster i think and you don't got to worry about spelling it wrong.

Either way, I get this result: Quote: ### FAILED TO LOAD SCENARIO.
Cache pack file bitmaps hits: 0 for 0.00M Cache pack file bitmaps adds/misses: 0 for 0.00M Cache pack file sounds hits: 0 for 0.00M Cache pack file sounds adds/misses: 0 for 0.00M Cache pack file loc hits: 0 for 0.00M Cache pack file loc adds/misses: 0 for 0.00M Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'
file_open('tags\bloodgulch_ai.scenario') error 0x00000002 'The system cannot find the file specified. '
couldn't open scenario tag 'bloodgulch_ai.scenario'.
need to get the following tags:
bloodgulch_ai.scenario
I extracted the bloodgulch tags... well, shortly put I did everything the tutorial said to, extracting and naming stuff the same way as that guy did... It says I need to get the tag... where and how do I get it, then where do I put it? ... Frankly, this confuses me. >_<

That means that you typed the wrong directory. Whats the full directory of you're scenario? e.g. tutorial.scenario is located in C:\program files\microsoft games\halo custom edition\tags\levels\test\tutorial, so the command is Quote: from my last post tool build-cache-file levels\test\tutorial\tutorial
You also don't include the "tags" folder in the command, but if the .scenario IS in the tags main folder, I think you should type just tool <command> bloodgulch_ai. You need to spell the name right to, if thats the problem.

here is the problem i saw in what was typed. it looks like you put bloodgulch_ai.scenario. well. tool is, well, sorta smart about this. it knows that its supose to be a scenario file. thus dont use the .scenario in the command. just the name

My level is in the Halo Custom Edition\tags\levels\test\bloodgulch directory. Ah, I get it now, lemme try it lol.... ... Never mind, don't have it yet. What I'm trying, according to the directory my .scenario is in, is: tool build-cache-file tags\levels\test\bloodgulch_ai\bloodgulch_ai
Edit: I figured it out. If someone had told me to create a bloodgulch_ai folder in halo custom edition\tags\levels, and to copy and paste my bloodgulch.scenario into it, THEN try compiling it with tool, so tool could find it.... Lol. At myself. Those little things the tutorials don't mention. :P Edited by Dusinator on Apr 9, 2008 at 09:44 AM
