I'm looking to get into the map making business, but of all the tutorials I seen, I don't understand them. What do you guys recommend for a new person to create maps with 3DS Max?

start off with HGuru or Geometric geeks beginner tutorial. there are also a few tutorials by firedragon04 on the site that are a bit more advanced. try those after you get the hang of making stupid box maps. just dont release your first maps.

If you want, Theres a book that you can get off of amazon. Blackarts of Halo Mods. It explains how to create a map, weapons, vehicles, scenery, cut scenes etc... Easy step by step with pics :P

That isn't a video tutorial, it's just him talking.

When I downloaded it, it was an avi file but was just music and him talking. Something must be wrong with my video player then.

you might need more codecs. try downloading the combined community codec pack (CCCP).

Somewhere in the comments or something, it says that one who uses the moddb tutorial needs to get a codec I believe... or maybe I forgot... oh well... its one of the best damn tutorial sets I have seen, but I have yet to actually get to using all of it ;-).

edit: BTW, I used VLC Media Player to play this set. I cannot get winamp or WMP to play it.
VLC > Windows media player anyway.
