boolean is a compound object found in max's create menu. It adds and subtracts objects to/from each other

It looks great. Maybe some smoothing touchups are needed, hard to tell cause it's all pixly, but I don't see anything obvious, except the lack of grimy metal textures

I got 3ds 9 - pm me a link and I'll texture it. Nothin fancy, I'm not that good, but just to get it a step closer to in-game.

And for smoothing, turn edges mode (in Edges mode) can help smooth out jagged parts of a mesh, and then assign smoothing groups to groups of faces that should appear to be 1 peice. A sphere for example, looks like a bunch of triangles without smoothing, but with smoothing to all faces, looks like a sphere. If a sphere was attached to a box, you'd have the sphere's faces smoothed, but the box's faces not smoothed. 2 joined spheres would have 2 smoothing groups
I also use gmax, so I could help with the grunt too if you get stuck

put it in a zip, and upload it to a file hoster like filefront, or add bobbysoon to your xfire and send me it with that. I use 3ds9 and gmax

I did start, on the torso. Optomized, reshaped a little, and rounded. I had fun reworking the backpack - nice work on that, and the rest is a good basis to work with
Any way you might be able to get some better reference pics?

No, i mean some pics for my work. I searched, but all I could find was what you found. I thought maybe you had the game and could take some screenshots. Probably not.

Here's the pic you subtly implied you'd like to see:

Progress so far: torso, backpack, backpack's straps, and shoulder-thing (unsmoothed thing)

There's a lot of little details I just can't make out in the pics, so if you (or anyone) could post some close ups, that'd really help
