could someone that uses gmax give me some tips on how to design 3d character models? i am still pretty new to gmax and would really appreciate some help.

Ben Mathis's tutorials: Check this out just for an idea of how things are done. He's using 3ds, but gmax is basically 3ds without the high-end functions, which you don't need to make a biped.
