I was modding rpg beta 4-4, and when I try to compile it, I get an error saying it's 12 mb too big. How can I reduce the size so I can compile it?

well for one thing, although it may not be recommended, if your vehicles, etc. can share tags such as bitmaps, sounds, etc. then let them do so if it comes right down to it. I believe that you can reduce the file size bit by bit doing that. For example, there's a set of h2 warthog tags that look very much like the real h2 hogs... but they share tags such as the bitmaps, sounds, etc... improvise some. It will also save alot of time when someone downloads.
also, take out less significant stuff and if there happens to be some noob items then take them out unless they are "absolutely necessary"... of course, almost all rpg beta maps have noob items... even gibbo's original rpg beta 4... rpg beta 3 didnt really have any unless you consider the draco and pelican to be... and this draco didn't even have a nuke cannon. It was still green.

So the maps 140 mb... what tags take up most space? Draco's? Scarab gun? vehicles? moving doors?

im not exactly sure, but like I said, sharing bitmaps would greatly reduce the size, as well as sounds, models, collisions, animations, alot of things.
but I do not recommend using... say a ghost's collision, in replacement for a draco. that is simply absurd, now, is it?

There, you can look at the shaders, which determine the bitmap and the luster of the objects. you can even give a bump-mapping illusion in most cases by modifying the multipurpose (which does alot with shinyness, color change, etc)... but make sure that vehicles that have identical bitmaps SHARE those bitmaps.

ok i just figured something out. you know how some can mod the campaign and others cannot except everyone can mod b30. its becuase b30 is less than 130 megabytes but all the others are bigger, so tool cant compile. the point is that id like to know which tool can compile larger map sizes. can e3po's?

If you compile maps with CE open it will be like twice the size.
