Would giving bump maps to trees and other scenery make it look worse or better?
Same with vehicles, characters and weapons (and misc objects like flag and powerups)

non-BSP objects cannot have bump maps. however multi-purpose maps "simulate" bump maps to an extent. Edited by Nugga117 on Oct 29, 2007 at 08:49 AM

Same with vehicles, characters and weapons (and misc objects like flag and powerups) the reason you can only enter bumpmaps in shader_ ENVIROMENT is because they are BSP only in H1. multiperpose maps can simulate it using shine. if you have a skin that shines in one area alittle more than behind it, and put it next to teh light, it will look like that part is sticking out getting all the light shadowing the further back part, making the aperance of a bump.

Amazing what you can do with the H1 graphical engine despite its age.
Also, couldn't you just assign a vehicle a shader.environment and give it a bump map? or would that mess its texturing up?
