Im pretty sure its still gonna ask for a credit card even if you do use a prepaid card... Did when I transfered my account to my 360 from teh old xbox... Don't worry, MS is a mulit billion dollar corporation, they have no need to steal money from your credit card... Just make sure you're careful when entering in stuff.. Happened to me... Woot 2 years XBL!

so i have to trust them my gredit card number if i want to make a live acount
NO you do not. You do not have to give out your creadit card number to create a Silver (free) account. You first create a Windows live ID account then go to Xbox.com and create and link your gamertag to the account.

Does the silver membership only give you cheap pacman downloads like the xbox 360, or will it enable multiplayer?

Theres still a new engine.. CE doesn't have that, psychics and a lot of other stuff, so what you have to sign into LIVE? Halo 2 will probably become as popular as Halo, because people on Halo have been waiting for the Halo 2 port for a very long time, and I'd rather buy Halo 2 than keep playing CE and all the Halo 2 remakes. No offense, but I'd rather buy Halo 2, because I already have a copy of Vista around here...
