I'd rather go without than take what you'd bring.

i have no idea what happened. it seems to have posted nothing. here is what i typed:

---

first of all, before i get bashed for not looking at tutorials, yes I have read them. Otherwise, how would I have been able to even try at this stuff without being absolutely clueless as to what i should do?

Well anyway, what I have been doing was practicing at some simple mods. i decided to torture the map blood gulch.
one of the mods i attempted was simply put in a h2 ghost and redo its shaders and sounds to look and sound more like the real h2 ghost.
the other mod i tried was simply add a bunch of grass detail objects to make the grass look a little better. not much of a mod, but...

so when it was looking good in sapien and i was happy with what i had done, i saved it and compiled it with tool. it looked exactly as i wanted it (well, as far as those two mods go) and compiled without error.

this is my result:

i have no idea what is with the lightmaps. and the h2 ghosts dont spawn. when i used "cheat_all_vehicles", the only ghost i saw was a h1 ghost.

for the lightmaps, i thought that maybe i should try and run radiosity on sapien... so i waited for about half an hour for it to finish.

well it looked like it should in sapien:

even after compiling it again it did not look good at all in halo.
i am just wondering what i might have done wrong.

You need to add the ghost into your globals

http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=2897

I think that shows you how to do it, i havnt checked

hmm... well if thats what i havent done, then thats fine but i still wonder what is wrong with the lighting. it looks fine in sapien as everyone who clicks the link can see. and since i have already tried running radiosity again, i have no idea what could be wrong unless it has something to do with the detail objects... which i have no idea why it should. thats the only thing changed in the bsp.

edit: you gotta be nuts if you think im watching THAT video. its a resolution of 1280x1024. i always thought that was a no-no when it came to videos, especially since it just adds file size. not only that but my laptop's monitor cant go that high (yes i even play this game on a laptop. somehow, i manage.). ill find out how to do it myself with guerilla. globals.tag or something like that?

edit 2:ok... as it turned out, adding the vehicles to the globals was easy...
so it played in halo. yay.

but then i saw a problem in a shader, h2_ghost_rubber.shader i believe.

ive been playing with the shaders to make the ghost look better (the one i decided to edit was the one in h2_coagulation and alot of other maps ive seen) and the problem is that when the ghost is under the right light (a plasma nade or starting up, for example) it will "glow" at a very bright color, usually a value of 255 for red, blue, green, or any combination of the three.

as one can imagine, this looks very ugly:

http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2162/uglyshader02rz7.png

and here is what it looks like when it doesnt have that nasty effect, which is how i intended it to look:

any ideas as to what could be wrong? and yeah... ill be searching on stuff for it...
