I have many questions (can't fit URL in though)

I was wondering if it was possible to have mirrors in HALO CE that you can see yourself in. I assumed it wasn't possible because Bungie didn't have the Master Cheif's visor like that and they obvoiusly ment it to have that because it does now for HALO 3.

But then I saw a map with mirror walls, so it's possible, but is it possible for scenery or bipeds?

i thought the same thing, in the sp level "the silent cartographer" in the part when u open the door thats locked, the floor on that part (where the security thing is) is made of glass and u can see ur self....so mb its a shader or somethng but i dont know....it would be nice so stuff could reflect in his visor

we mean for MC visor....not for walls...

no, mirrors are special to BSPs in HCE, their very locations are marked within the BSP tags, and are secured there when you compile the BSP tag. the setting to make them mirrors is in SHADER_ENVIROMENT only, at the bottem, Dynamic Mirror checkbox, but it wont do anything for something other than a BSP, and if you ever get a tool error "Couldn't allocate final cluster mirror" or somethign similar to that, it means your BSP has to many mirrors

So even applying a shader environment to the gbxmodel doesn't work?

Yea he did say bipeds, so the MC head was assumed....

Yeah, that is the map I metioned that had it but what I was asking was whether it would work on things other than bsps.

Shame it's not possible, unless, I don't know a thing about scripting, but could sombody out there script it? Maybe a script to make the engine treat the Master Cheif's visor as a bsp, very much doubt it though.

I was hopeing that, even if it didn't work on bipeds, it would for scenery so I could still have a reflective visor for cutscenes.

Does anyone know how to make the same effect in 3ds max 5 though, might be useful for the films I like making.

ah yeah tats when i first realized it was possible. i had a crap graphics care many..... well about a month ago haha. and i couldn't see reflection of water or shadows. u get the point. anyway, the master chief doesn't even have the geometry in his model for a face.
