Open with WinRar (which is not free) or TugZip or IZArc (which are both free). Take you're pick.
RAR is a compression format, similar to ZIP.

Tugzip is full of crap... I can't make a zip folder or it says "this file is corrupted" ... total crap. I uninstalled it but then my zip folder abilities were gone.... Dennis... no offence but thanks for a free piece of crap... not I gotta yell at the retarded makers.

Get IZarc then. I use it and don't have many problems, except the occasional bad download. http://www.izarc.org/

tugzip is a very awesome program. I think it's one of the best totally free ones. Winrar is good but it costs money and for most peoples use .rar compression is not needed. Dennis only will host .zip files on this site.
they say .rar will compress more but i have not really seen much of a difference personally.
but to extract a .rar you need tugzip or another free program that will do it. winzip won't extract rars, at least mine didn't so i only use tug now.

Maybe this will clear up some things:
- WinRAR and WinZip are not free software. They are shareware which means after the trial period you must purchase a license or remove it regardless if it continues to work or not.
- Rar does have better compression than Zip format
- We only host ZIP format because:
- It is natively supported on Windows XP and later OS's without using an archive program
- We have a license for WinZip
- I knew the late Phil Katz who struggled to get his ZIP compression scheme accepted
- I was one of the (many) original testers and license holders of the original Zip program for DOS
- Just because I like it
- Tugzip is just one of many truly freeware archive programs. I selected it as an example because of its GUI interface. I felt it would be easier for people to use who do not have a full grasp of command line applications. There are other programs just as good.
- This website does not and will not promote software piracy in any form and if you use a program after it's trial period is up, like WinRAR, it is software piracy plain and simple.
- If we hosted RAR format files it would require people to most likely use WinRAR past its trial period thereby promoting software piracy
