Bourrin, the vehicles and weapons you make are absolutely amazing, the textures and lighting look so damn good, and after mucking around in bigass v 1.81, the work you and altis did is frigging good considering you haven't actually released the final version. I do have a few hitches with your hogs though, first is the brake lights - to me, it looks funny that the glass covers on them mysteriously disappear once you exit the driver seat, and also the axles connecting the tyres - the part that attaches directly to the tyre looks very big, and if you position the camera while driving at a certain angle, you can see a gap between the tyre and the axle itself. While they're only minor things, I'd just like to point them out, being the nitpicker that I like to be  The physics for the hogs are heaps good - they feel more like the off-road 4WD the hog was meant to be, and less like a garbage truck too, although I feel that the friction for the hogs when drifting/powersliding seems nearly non-existent (test: pedal to the metal in a hog, then turn camera 90°, watch how far the hog slides sideways) The last is the troop hog - it looks great, but this issue is more of a personal preference than an actual problem, and that's the caterpillar treads it uses in place of wheels - the speed at which this hog travels makes the idea of using treads look really funny  Also tuwdburgaler, I've got another concept if it's possible - a passenger-controlled rear turret. In Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, Mendez has a custom warthog that has a rack of Argent V missiles, and as anyone who's seen a missile fire, the backblast is massive, and anyone standing even 50 metres behind one firing is bound to get cooked to a crisp. The thing is, if it's impossible to man a turret with missiles mounted on it (think coldsnap missile hogs), what if the passenger seat acted as a control console for the turret? To finish, has anyone successfully implemented the H3 warthog engine sounds? IMHO they sound the best, up there with the Reach hog sounds. Edited by Bottletopman on Sep 17, 2013 at 05:21 AM

bottletopman, i like the idea of a missile bank in the rear of the warthog that is more realistic than the self murdering coldsnap turrets. any other ideas, im thinking an AA turret as well, and on another note, im thinking a grenade launcher turret is needed of the sorts, input your thoughts on that guys, and the warthog is getting very close, im skinning and modeling all day every day. this thing looks EPIC Edited by Tuwdburgaler on Sep 17, 2013 at 02:56 PMHere is an early render, with some slapped on textures in some places, the final will have incredible detail where least expected. The Forza 4 Warthog was the inspiration for this. Because I loved its looks, but hated its suspension, they went too far for realism, and the old warthog had fantastic suspension, completely independent, which this warthog will have. the Forza hog has about 400,000 polygons, so I started completely from scratch and only used it for free details on some textures. Quite interesting Maniac, currently the renditions that are most likely are as follows:
Open Bed Warthog (for machinima and racing etc) & Standard LAAG Warthog
Passenger Controlled Missile Deck Hog (because we all know what would really happen when you fire the current missile hog)
Warthog APC & Warthog VIP Transport
The order of the three is actually probably accurate, but keep it up with the epic idea's guy's I am loving it. Which direction would you prefer to see outside this list? Service built warthogs, or different combat hog's?

I like the idea of the law enforcement hog vampire girl...fits well with machinima. I like all of the variants proposed by echo77 a lot especially the half track. I could actually use some different advice on mechanics. its been a while how exactly do the treads work? simply by using the scorpions shader properly?

You can simply use scorpion treads shader and unwrap the bitmap correctly. You would need to copy functions from scorpion vehicle tag so that shader would make texture slide depending on speed.

Here it is, the M12 GTV-Light (General Transport Vehicle). As i have gone through error after error in every imaginable form, i realise a need for a tutorial, on how to build vehicles in depth is truly needed. THUS, i wish to create a tutorial series atop this warthog after i finish. Anybody with skills or information please pm me as i will be working on the first portion of the tutorial. The tags will be released when the tutorial is finished. Anybody who wishes to contribute, again. let me know. and also comments on the warthog. Sorry that im hiding so many details in the picture XD i know im bad, but i fixed every single error on the model, the smoothing is fantastic, now just for final modeling and skinning details. as i said i intend to build the tutorials atop this. the first series of tutorials will involve adding onto this warthog. I wish for all with the interest to have the skills to build any vehicle of there own.

Are those final textures? They look far too matt for vehicle bodywork. It also looks like it's missing a lot of detail, particularly the interior.

correct, i havent even touched the interior other than a fast steering wheel, the reason i went ahead and tagged it without details is because i wish for one tutorial to be building an interior with custom speedometer and whatnot, and another tutorial of the series to be finalizing textures with excellent detail, but the most important two tutorials will be adding a turret to it, and rebuilding animations that work.
HOPEFULLY once that series of tutorials is done, i will add even more complicated ones, my intention is this warthog to be the foundation of a new era of vehicle modification that anybody can do, and do well. such as things like damage, custom scripts, etc.
on another note, i had an idea, i wish to make a first person weapon out of the steering wheel, so that i can make a tutorial on how to make an excellent first person driven warthog. any feedback whatsoever would be useful. Edited by Tuwdburgaler on Oct 7, 2013 at 03:54 PM

Ahh, I didn't read properly then, thanks for clearing that up altis.
Regarding the speedo and dashboard instruments, would it be possible to implement a digit speedo (speed/revs shown as a number) or even a traditional one like we have now? (i.e. the dial that goes around as you go faster - although the numbers may be too small to see,so a dial itself would be decent enough)

bottletopman im glad you mentioned this, and the term is ANALOG, My intentions with the dashboard of the warthog already overlapped your request, i believe a digital speedometer is quite fathomable with the current texture animation method, however, my intention is to setup a physical speedometer with an analog dial that is animated with its rotation multiplied by velocity, this will require some mildly advanced math, but i am already on top of it, as for ideas that haven't been done yet, keep posting them people, if i get an idea to work, i will make a tutorial for it, and currently i can promise a functional vehicle and all of the tuning of its animations, but i want this series to be in depth, so message me with information you think i can use, or post an idea here, we are the fans of halo, this will be our warthog
