It doesn't look natural. If the hand grabbed the gun that way, the gun's movement would sway more than it does.

The only parts I am really going to complain about at the stock and the carry handle. They don't look too good.
Do a normal render, none clay. And a wireframe. Looks good though.

I honestly like the stock, but I agree with anon, The carrying handle is fine, it just looks like it needs to be a bit thicker. The sniper has gotta be a pretty heavy gun.

Ophandle is too small, that front part of the gun right under the barrel needs to not be a box, that part at the bottom of the mag shouldn't be stretching out in each direction that far, and you can cut down on a lot of polies but just getting rid of the indents in the handle. The fingers will cover those, it's a waste to have them on there.

The carrying handle needs to be a bit thicker, and to be honest I would just get rid of the finger guard thing. It is a really dumb design. Granted that it is on the halo 3 sniper, it still looks bad. The bolt could be bigger in all dimensions, but mostly length. Scale it up some. As for the magazine, I think the part that actually holds the rounds should be scaled up, but the bottom part is too big.

Just a little model I decided to practice with, since I haven't modeled in over a year. It's about 3k tris. I'm not finished yet; obviously, because of the lack of a magazine, but I need some thoughts on the design before I continue. Besides, its late

Here is the max file (max8) http://www.filefront.com/15044959/gun16.max/Anyone is welcome to adjust anything about this. Oh yea, i redirected the assault rifle to use this gbx model, so you might want to backup your AR tags. i could be wrong but im pretty sure that you need an over heat enter anim, an overheat looping anim, and an overheat exit anim. similar to the shotgun reload

i already fixed the problem. instead of an exact h2 copy, i made it so where he makes a fist for the looping(overheated) animation so that it wouldnt keep repeating the overheating animation.

what the hell are you talking about? whats wrong with the thumb work? i mean besides that it allegedly "sucks". ill give you that the m16's firing is strange looking, but for the glock's reload, notice at 0:19 when the thumb moves up. albeit that this is a different model glock, it seems the button i have circled in the above picture was being pressed at 0:19 to release the slide back forward. i dont know if that is how a glock actually operates, but thats why he didnt pull the slide back.
