Thanks for the tips, I did feel kinda overwhelmed because the map I'm making is fairly large, but I'm breaking it up now. I took a shot at modeling a cliff/pathway, and this is what I got.

Now, I know this isn't really that good, so I'm looking for advice on what I could improve on. Personally, I think the the basic shape I got going is pretty good :)
Alright, so I'm making a map, and decided to use a height map. It does it's job and gets the shape in, but I've notices the cliffs turn out awful.
So can someone give me so tips or perhaps a tutorial on how to get the cliffs better? I need help getting the right shape and cliffs on my map, and essentially getting this map started in the right direction. I should be good with making the terrain, but I can't seem to get the basic shape and cliffs. Edited by n00b4life95 on Feb 25, 2013 at 09:42 PM
The player will have the ability to place it somewhere, and pick it up again when they are done using it. The turret will shoot down anything that comes within it's range. However, it is rendered useless if flipped over ex: a grenade flipping it over. Edited by n00b4life95 on Jul 12, 2012 at 11:16 AM

At first, I was determined that that meant that the creatures are Forerunner too, being of similar design. But then I thought about it. What if the enemies aren't Forerunners, but created minions? They're not powerful enough or advanced enough to be the Forerunners themselves. The Forerunners built a weapon that could wipe out the entire race of flood. Surely they'd be able to build a simple weapon to obliterate Masterchief with a single flick of a trigger? Perhaps the enemies are just the minions of the Forerunners, guarding their base. When you meet the Forerunners themselves, I doubt you'll be put into a situation where you have to fight them. If they are your enemies and there isn't ever some kind of "Oh wait, now we understand your inferior species. Peace?" story, then it'll likely be a super weapon that allows you to kill the Forerunners, not your own hands.
They're not forerunners. Cortana said that the're not organic, I remember reading somewhere that they are robots created by the forerunners for defensive reasons. Edited by n00b4life95 on Jun 9, 2012 at 12:24 PM
Well now that we've all seen what forerunner weapons look and function like, why not get them into the game? The same with AI, I'm not sure if the Knight would be possible to get completly functioning in this game though...
I would do it myself, but I don't remember squat about modeling xD. Just throwing the idea out there.
Sounds great! Looks like I'm going back into modeling over the summer =D
