you're kidding right? does anyone here know if M$ confirmed no Dx12 on Win7?

Reposting this from the steam chat.

The article says it is speculation though so there is still a chance.

Really? You've become a programmer?
Impressive. That provides future prospects for you.

What makes you think programming is required and that it can't be done with existing tools?

You'd have to be extremely lucky to magically get H2V SP maps compiled by using existing tools without any adjustments. Therefore one would assume some form of programming or reverse-engineering is most likely required. Though of course I suppose there is a small chance that enough mana is available to make said magic happen.

I'm one too, though I don't do any Halo CE stuff.

Go for it. It won't take you that long either, there's plenty of great tutorials out there. Once you have the basics down, its a metter of getting nitty-gritty and building tons of experience. You'd be very surprised by what one man can achieve in say 2 years if he is driven and motivated.

Stop this talk about freely editing content in Halo 2. It is impossible because the realms of this world forbid it.

Because the existing tools strip encounter names (if you use a script to check the living count of an encounter, its always 0, even if there is 500 alive. This also prevents you from playing H2+'s equivalent of command lists on them). Pathfinding data is stripped, they are blind out there. If you add custom weapons into the AI tags, those are stripped, so you cannot define custom behavior for your AI. The depth of your AI movement, will be whatever initial command you give them at spawn, and if your close enough to make them try to melee you, or if in a vehicle, squish you (and they only move a foot, and basically, if you get out of that range, they stop pursuit).

Anyways, until you can get it to stop stripping information, there isnt much you can do, other than a tower defense game. I do have some H3 sentinels setup for H2V if you at least want a character other than spartans or elites.

You already can compile SP maps fine. The problem is getting them to function correctly, and there are lots of possible work arounds including converting tags (therefore getting around some of H2V's BSP compilation problems) and new tools to patch the missing data from the h2tool compiled map files.

As I said, it all needs to be looked into to see if it's possible, but there are some of us from and some from outside this community who are interested in doing things.

Microsoft aren't going to make any real commitments to PC gaming. Literally every single device in MS's hardware portfolio that isn't Xbox uses either Adreno, Tegra, or Iris graphics chipsets, i.e. cheap, low-power solutions. MS committing to release a range of games that would run terribly, if at all, across almost their entire portfolio of devices, would be insanity on their part.

Literally the only way they could claw this back is if they popped a full version of Windows 10 onto the Xbox One, and said "Hey, the Xbox One is a PC now, see, we care about gaming on PC!".

Short of that it's going to be the same dismal half-assed rhetoric, followed by hasty retractions that MS has been offering the PC gaming market for well-over a decade.

That doesn't seem like a "fine" compilation to me.

*Leaked speech to be made by Bonnie Ross at the windows 10 conference in January
On behalf of Microsoft and the team at 343 industries I am excited to announce that halo 3 can finally be confirmed to never be coming to PC.
But halo the master chief collection will not be coming to steam late 2015 or PC ever.

Hi Matthew,

What I mean is that there is no point in a "compilation succesful" message, if it did not in fact compile everything properly in order to work as a functioning SP map. Refer to Kirby's post about things being dropped etc.

Yes it compiled. But it is not a "fine compilation".

Hope this clarified any misunderstanding!

Warm sands to you.

All of this talk about Halo 2 Vista modding just means that I'll have to work extra creatively on my reverse engineering approaches.

Give up this talk about Halo 2 modding. It will never happen. Now if you will excuse me, I will return to forging my amazing custom maps in Halo 4.

Rubbish, nonsense, poppycock, I say.
Halo 2's modding is like the ugly sister of the average dame that is Halo: CE.
Farewell, as I will give Halo 4 your regards.

Question for the ages, my dear friend. But spending time on Halo 2 would be far worse.

So a leak leaked and I guess this MS talk about PC is mainly

"We got an Xbox One app on Windows 10"
"You can (maybe) stream Xbone games to your PC"

Windows 10 is just windows 8 and windows 7 combined.
