They are using the same engine as ALL the other engines, just improving it like they do for each game.

That trailer looked very nice. I noticed that the thing I saw was off (Besides the shield flare) was simply the sounds. They sound too real for Halo. Other than that (And the fact that it looks like it'll play like halo 3... I don't like halo 3 that much) it's looking okay. I'm awaiting its release. Every game has a shining spot in it. You just need to know where to look. Picking at every detail of the game isn't the way to do it, nor is looking at the game as a whole. To me, Halo 1 is my favorite. (And my second Halo game.) It's multiplayer is extremely fun, and the campaign was amazing. (There are bad levels and repeat levels in the campaign, but it's the game that had solid gameplay all the way through. Something that the other games simply did not have). Halo 2 is my second favorite (And my first Halo game) It's multiplayer was like halo 1, extremely fun, but that battle rifle was over powered. That and the carbine. Everything else was fine in what I saw. (I was never a part of the original matchmaking cycle, but instead I would go to my friends houses and we'd have 16 player lan games. What fun that was...) Now, my favorite mission in all of the halo series is in halo 2, and that is quarantine zone. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4JuLx3Ec7o It also shows the mission before it where you move through the vents, but hey, I like both missions). Halo 3 is my least favorite halo. (And my 3rd one) The changes the game made were fairly bad. (I hated the bubble shield, the regenerator, and most of all the thing that sucks out all of your life, forgot what it was called). The campaign was a little bit of a let down, but of course those missions were story bound. And besides, the mission where you fought two scarabs was fun. But for the most part, all the game showed me was that what I have done before I can do again. Not an accomplishing feeling. Also, Halo 3's multiplayer was terrible in my opinion. I don't know why, but I just didn't like it, something about it was just boring... I don't know what it was though. Halo 3 ODST was really fun. (My 7th halo game) It provided the perfect take cover, fire, take cover sort of action that I liked in Halo. It was really good in my opinion. And plus, the last mission on that game had to be some of the most fun I've actually had on a halo campaign. And, firefight was entertaining as well. Much better than reaches. Only if you had an ammo dispenser. Only if... Halo Wars (My 6th halo game) was a good game. Besides the fact that it had the best cutscenes known to man, it also had a calmer sense in the game, where you could take a breather and rebuild your base, where other times you turned on your panic mode and started placing out turrets because that scarab is coming, and you didn't realize it until it was too late! Skirmish mode is fun, although the few games I've played online, I've lost horribly. I'm just simply not good at RTS games. Halo Reach (My 4th halo game) When it first came out, it stood out. Everything was different for once! It was it's own game. The forge mode was great (Minus how the pieces looked) and I was finally able to see some more laid back gameplay rather than some competetive team matches. Either way, I still get 20 kills, just one I don't have to try, and the others I do. I prefer not to. It's much more fun. The campaign was a little choppy, but some missions (Sword base, Tip of the Spear, The Pillar Of Autumn) were excellent, so excellent, that I could play on them as much as I could, and they still wouldn't be boring! Something about Reach attracts me back to it a lot more than any other game. Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition (Long name, and my 5th Halo game) It worked out well as a remake. I expected all the Reach map packs to be available, but only one could easily do. And with the title update (I don't like it as much as vanilla reach, but...) some of these maps are meant to play like they originally were played. All I expected was better graphics in the campaign. I didn't expect skulls and terminals to be added, and when I found out they were, I thought it was pretty cool. And plus, I was finally able to play online with one of my friends on Halo 1... the only thing I though was missing from this game was motion blur. There's no motion blur! I enjoy a game as how it's played, and I do not base my gameplay off of memories and nostalgia. Those are the past days, and if I want to relive them then I can. Now on to Halo 4 (again) Halo 4's looking like it's coming along nicely. I don't know about you guys, but what I'm looking forward to the most is the new flood missions! These old ones are getting a little stale. Well, that's all I've got for this ridiculously long post that has almost nothing to do with the original post itself. Good bye.

Quote: --- Original message by: Tiel A great example of not breaking what isn't broken is Valve's Portal series. Portal and Portal 2 use the exact same engine with minor enhancements here and there and look how well it sold. Same goes for the levels. Too bad there won't be a Portal 3..

These old ones are getting a little stale. Well, that's all I've got for this ridiculously long post that has almost nothing to do with the original post itself. Good bye. I haven't seen anywhere that the flood's been confirmed. Have you? A dark new threat is all I've heard about a new flood-ish enemy, y'know, the ultimate one. If you're talking about that desert-ish environment from the trailer, it jujst looks like an arid desert with some mountain ranges and canyons and stuff. Anyway, for your analysis, I don't agree with msot of your conclusions. However, I will add briefly Halo 1 owned. First, original and the best. Halo 2 owned. Both sides of the sotry, fluid gameplay, and a pretty cool climax( except for when I realised I had to wait for 3 to fight on Earth again... I was sad.) Halo 3 was my favorite. Back on Earth, some epic emotion(I cried when Miranda and Johnson died), epic music, and some of the ebst gameplay I've ever hadm plus some really nice environments( I could stand there and watch the dig site on Earth all day...) some of the greatest cutscenes in a game EVER, and the best climax since the start of climaxs. ODST, to bee short, sucked in my opinion. Bungie wanted to go in a different direction, got cold feet, and we have the result. Somehow we have a lone ODST that can navigate his way through an entire mega-city, defeats at least a company of covenant by himself, and doesn't even talk much- a fail character, in my opinion. Plus, the ODSTs are: Low health, still super strength, can somehow carry a turret and run nas fast as master chief, and SOMEHOW not be able to use equipment. Shoulda been DLC, it started off as DLC anyway. Not gonna talk about wars, it is an RTS, you can't judge it the same. Same as Reach. Didn't like it, period. Only mission I like either Tip of Spear, Long Night Of Solace, or New Alexandria. Goodnight.

On the topic of AA's, seeing as none are shown in the trailer to my knowledge, I can only come to two conclusions. One, of course, is that 343 realized they were much more of a problem as a feature in Reach than they were a benifit in terms of how happy the community was, so they ditched them for the most part.. Aside from maybe a minor campaign section something like how certain vehicles in Halo 3 only appeared for a short period of time to make missions interesting. On the other hand, if they are still in the game, there's a good chance 343 hid them on purpose with the intent of preventing any community uproar for the time being.
Personally, I hope AA's are burried in a very deep hole and glassed.

Quote: --- Original message by: anonymous_2009 Who says the Mech wont be used in the campaign, you never know. It's actually a reference to the mech used in one of the Halo: Legends shorts i think. Don't quote me on that, i heard it was a reference to part of the canon somewhere and made an educated guess.
