I would but honestly I don't know jack about third person animations, and I don't think I'd be willing to try to figure it out, given the amount of trouble I've had with them in the past. I'm working on the finishing touches of the fp animations, and if I could get the charge light fix from you, we should have a completed fp set.. I may consider an elite plasma rifle set but I'd need an arm rig

I've sent you the charge fix, ready for in-game smooth performance. Its still great work independent of the 3p.

Would you be able to extract the arm and weapons rig from the gbx and animation if I send the dual plasma rifle tags to you?

late response, but probably not going to happen. I've always liked my origins kind of far from the camera, like in retro games such as counter strike or unreal tournament 2004. call it personal preference, but a bit of blatant unrealism is what I prefer. a huge gun taking up half the screen doesn't appeal to me, realism be damned



you can try if you want, but I can't promise anything. I've got to get working on a character model for somebody and start getting the hang of blender, I've been putting it off for a while

if nothing else, hopefully this at least gives you base concept for these types of weapons. if you want to take a shot at it yourself you can have a look at the max 9 files assuming you're able to and probably learn from the way I animate things how to do them. look at the heirarchy the pieces and the keyframes.

I'm done with this weapon, and I'm reasonably satisfied with the results, despite the lack of appropriate 3rd person animations and the sketchiness of the animations I made. got farther than I expected considering this was originally just going to be a proof of concept

I never thought so, so that's weird.

What you have to do for the elite is make a new weapon label/stance in elite.model_animations. IK the left hand too the left hand marker for the new stance, and set up your weapon labels there and in the weapon tag as well. It's also probably a good idea to remove the melee for these elites in that weapon stance. The guns would not look right when the melee. MAke sure to set up the IK for the crouching stance, too.

Once we have a pistol animation graph, a rifle animation graph, and a comb it shouldn't be too hard.
I can't and never have been able to get the duals to be linked the way you say they should be. So I'll still do it my way... with link constraints.
I'm not that good of an animator regardless. Perhaps anyone else could help me out next week or so?

I'm not working on the plasma rifles at the moment, if you want to have a go at them feel free

best way to go about setting this up (in my opinion) would be:

1. import plasma rifle into scene twice
2. move them away from one another
3. rename the frame_gun for each accordingly
4. delete any unnecessary nodes
5. parent frame_gun from left to right
6. save. this will be your model file. you can fix up materials now or later, even export to jms if you want
7. import fp arms
8. place camera at 0 0 0, rotate into the direction of the fps arms
9. delete frame bone 24, replace with a generic box, parents upper arm bones to it (keep frame bone 24 at 0 0 0, I'm not sure if moving it will screw things up). this will allow shoulders to move freely
10. rotate arms a bit based on how they would naturally bend, apply IKs
11. parent left gun to left wrist, right to right wrist. note this will change the heirarchy from the model file, but it will still work
12.set up origins for one of them
13. copy rotation, location for wrist, fingers and weapon placement to the other, apply negative value when necessary
14. once perfectly alligned, save. you've got your origins file
15. animate that shiz

I'm pretty sure the dual smgs from one of the Zanzibar maps already works like this, melees and all.

For the dual wielding elite, does any have that model animations tag changed for it to work? I've been trying to get it to dual wield the default plasma rifles but I can't seem to get it to work at all (using info Slappy had said).

All I can say is that, Dual Plasma Pistols sounds like a good idea. But it might sort of be a bit weird to hold both mouse buttons down, unlike a 360 controller...

And I'd love it if they could disable vehicles just like in Reach :D
