OS HEK won't open a scenario that has blank project yellow references, I think.
Also, make a copy of those scenarios because once you use them with OS HEK, they are automatically incompatible with the stock HEK.


tutorial.scenario works on both stock hek and os versions without project yellow references, i understand how it wouldnt work with the project yellow tags on the stock sapien. but im trying to open stock scenarios that are untouched in every way in os_sapien with no references to anything os_related. if it works in tutorial, carousel, bloodgulch, and a few other maps without a need for a project yellow setup than the others should work too right?

and to clarify i dont want or need to open the scenarios with the stock hek, i was trying to compare the two sapiens and the ability to open the same stock scenarios, a10 for example (untouched stock tags) wont open in OS_sapien, but will in stock sapien.

kornmann? input perhaps? or anybody else have this issue?

Cannot find the source for cheape.map on the site.don't really know how i would go about compiling if i did find it...Im assuming its too much to ask someone to upload the newest possible version?

CheApe.map isn't a game map, it's a memory mapped file that OS HEK uses. It's installed with OS HEK.


The cause of the script definitions mismatch was found and fixed, along with another problem (related to gravity being set to funky values on map load in some cases). We're currently fixing a couple other things, but after they're patched, we're hoping to have CMT test it out prior to their release, and then release 3.0.2 the same day or before their SPV3 comes out.


And I can't say why your scenario won't open in OS_Sapien. I need error details.

Man, This makes me want to get back into Halo CE modding. Does it support normal maps for detail maps? and what does this add besides visuals?

Yes normals are suported by all dynamic objects.It also adds things like flood infections,scripting extras.

When the opensauce installer gets to the updating directx section, it fails. I've already manually updated using http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8109 , so is it possible to bypass upgrading directx?

I'm really confused here, I updated OS, but now I have an error when starting Halo saying I need DirectX 9.0b, but I have 11? So it will not run. This is on Windows 7.

Also, I just reinstalled Halo and downloaded it to my old PC with Windows XP to see if it would work, and when loading Halo that PC crashes. I don't care much if this one doesn't work, but I really wish it would work on my Windows 7 PC.


Edit: Got it running. Uninstalled OpenSauce, and Halo. Then deleted everything remaining in my directory and then reinstalled Halo and OS.

Is this after you updated?

I'm only guessing here, but Kornman probably changed the pp coding and messed it up so that VISR's run through polies rather than outlines. Dunno though.

Yeah, I got a little bit more framerate lag than with the old one, but not much. The framerate performance should be boosted a little, but it is still a good update.

Do you have HEK installed? it checks your registry if HEK is actually installed. Anyways, open opensauceIDE, pick cheape applier, it will generate your OSHEK. Then, you have to create your own cheape.map (grab the sourcecode from the google code page, use the cheape_project in there) and after its compiled, place it in your HCE folder.

Read the .fx file in data\postprocess, it states all the colors in there, as well as getting the team color for units. You can re-write that file, then compile it into a postprocess of your own with whatever colors you want, etc.

I completely deleted and uninstalled everything in my halo folder, it was totally blank, then started again by installing Halo CE 1.00, then the 1.09 patch, then OS 3.03. Yet it still gets the gathering exception data message as soon as the start menu appears when i run halo. I'm not running xfire or any other programs for that matter. Any idea what's going wrong?

E: didn't actually reinstall PC, only CE, so imma try that.

...nope. Didn't work.

I don't have that issue, but then I've been using a chatbox since before OS even came out, due to the vidmode issue with chat.

I do not have the time to try out OS3, but I am grateful that korn continues to supply the modding community with the necessary tools to keep this 10+ year old game running like new.

i really do hope that open sauce begins to open Microsoft's eyes to how dedicated the halo ce modding community really is. (maybe a new Hek based on the reach engine.) but its not likely to happen.

-decals on non-bsp objects, such as bullet wounds and injuries

-separate first and third person firing sounds, so that a gun can sound different in third person than it would in first

That's... already possible without OS...


I'm fairly certain adding seperate first and 3rd person sound effects aren't possible in a weapon firing effect, because while you can add SOUNDS, you can't designate them first or third person, like you can particles.

to further elaborate, you generally add sounds using the "parts" section of an effect tag, which gives you the option of many different tag types to be inserted into "events"

while this allows you to choose from locations (primary trigger for example), mode types (violent or nonviolent), and the atmospheric environment (such as underwater), there isn't an option for third or first person use like particles. go look for yourself if you don't believe me
